comune di ???castelpetroso

Post by silvana/australia »

I need some guidance please . My gmother was born in Castelpetroso 1906. To request a copy of birth certificate do I write to:

Salvatore Forte
Comune di Castelpetroso
Via Sa Rocco, 2
86090 Isernia, Molise

1) What type of documents can I request? All I know is that her mother was Vincenza & father Guiseppe. I do not know my gmothers husbands name other than she was a Giancola before she married as well.

2) What is a famiglia di stato di certificate & do I have enough information to request one.

As you can see I am at the very beginning of my search.

Thank you to the kind soul who responds,

Regards Silvana

If was married in Italy,on birthregistry are an notation also about marriage/marriages and are easy to find....and to know all about husband... The certificato di famiglia or stato di famiglia( only for living person) are possibleto request about your ggfather Giuseppe (if you know birthdate) and also about husband of your gmother(if married in Italy and if the childs was born in Italy)..regards, suanj

The Lds has an excellent outline for writing to Italy;

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/search/ ... talian.ASP

"The stato di famiglia storico (historical state of the family) is kept at the ufficio di stato civile, and it documents not those present in a household at a given time, but all members of the family, past and present, including those who moved away or died."
(As quoted in Trafford R. Cole: Italian Genealogical Records)

You can request birth, marriage and death extracts. Include as much detailed info as possible, full names, dates and the names of parents.
This is to insure that you recieve the information for the right family.

Limit your request to 2 items per correspondence, and be sure to include the international reply coupon.

Hope this helps,
wldspirit
