Aniello Migliaccio Family Ponza d'Ischia, Italy
Aniello Migliaccio Family Ponza d'Ischia, Italy
My name is Anthony Migliaccio. I am doing research on the early days of my father's life. His name was Aniello Migliaccio. Born in Philadelphia PA in 1910 and returned to Ischia as an infant. His father was Antonio/Anthony Migliaccio and his mother was Restituta. I had always believed her maiden name to be D'Abundo but I have been told it may be Iacono.
My father had a brother named Frank. I am not sure if he was born in America or Ischia. Frank was part of the Italian resistance and fought against the NAZIS during WWII. He died of pneumonia in 1946. I have the passenger list where he sailed to Naples in 1946 for his brother's funeral.
My father had a sister Rosa. I am not sure what year she was born or if she was born in America or Ischia. She lived in Ponza d'Ischia, Italy married to Domonic D'Abundo. I believe they had three children which would be my first cousins. They would be in their 50's.
My father was returned alone to America in 1925. He lived with Antonio Jimmy) Migliaccio in Tuckahoe and with the Foglio family in Ocean City. He married Loretta Arcesi from Sayre PA in 1936 and remained in Ocean City until the early days of WWII when they relocated to Washington DC. They remained in Washington until his death in 1982.
Aniello and Loretta Migliaccio had two children. Anthony Francis Migliaccio 1952 and Esther Mary Migliaccio 1953-2005. Sadly with my sister's death much memory and written information was lost.
My primary interest is what happened during my father's life between 1910 and why he was returned alone to America. If anyone has any knowledge our line of the Migliaccio, D'Abundo, Iacono history in the early days of Philadelphia, Ocean City or Ponza d'Ischia, Italy please do not hesitate to post a reply.
Sincerely,
Anthony F. Migliaccio

Laura, Tessa,
Thank you very much. I have looked over so many passenger lists and census lists and I am sure that I have over looked this information. This information has answered many questions. I shill am trying to find why Antonio took his family back to Italy soon withing a few years after 1910. Family legend has it the Antonio Migliaccio in Tuckahoe, New Jersey sent or my Aniello 1n 1925. I have record of his return. Could this Antonio be my grandfather Antonio's Cousin? All throughout my childhood my Father visited and respected Antonio in Tuckahoe with such reverence. I am sure I will have more questions. I am only learning where to search and I am building a tree on Ancestry.com. If you can pm me I will invite you to review it.
Thank you,
Respectfully
Anthony F. Migliaccio

Re: Aniello Migliaccio Family Ponza d'Ischia, Italy
Again thank you for the immense amount of information that you have provided. I will be forever grateful.
I could use a little help in determining the relationsbip with my Father Aniello, Grandfather Antonio Migliaccio a relative my father always referred to a s Uncle Jimmy although he described him as his cousin. His name is Antonio Migliaccio Ny cousin Joyce Wood (Grandaughter to Antonio Migliaccio in Tuckahoe NJ.) has extensively researched her grandfather Antonio who's father was John and he too was from Ischia. I have inclued her question to me to help us close the connection.
"Anthony, can you reach out for my Grandpop & Grandmom....the information I have is as follows:" The following information is Antonio Migliaccio who my father lived with upon his return to America in 1925.
Antonio Migliaccio, born: Feb. 10, 1881. Father, John Migliaccio, Mother Anne Marie, maiden name unknown. Antonio had one sister also named Anne Marie who had at least two Sons. Would like any information on them as well. Antonio's sister died sometime in the sixties from what I was told.
Antonio came to America in 1902 working as a merchant marine on a ship and came into Phila. Later married Annunizato Mirgalio. Her Mother was Christina Implazio and Father, Nick Miraglio. She had two 1/2 brothers, Frank D'Abbundo and Salvatore D'Abbundo. I don't know when Christina came to America, but she may have lived in Phila for some time but later resided in Tuckahoe.
Annunizato Miraglio born: 2/26/1882, Italy. She died May 13th? 1939, died in Tuckahoe. She had a cousin Joe who resided in Ocean City. I really don't have any other information that I can think of.
We are both continuing to research this information. The links and search engines you have provided are greatly appreciated. I am planing to put together a letter in Italian for my cousins in Ischia when I locate them. At one time my late sister had this information but as I mentioned in my first post much of her and my mother's notes address and letters were lost to me. I will be available to provide as much information as I can and I will continue to research this on my own as well. If you should need to contact me off list please do not hesitate to contact me with a PM
