WWI and WWII Draft Registration Cards

Post by jpgarone »

I'm going to depend on the kindness of strangers again and ask if anyone has access to the databases with this information. I am trying to find info on Rocco Petruzzi (WWI era, also listed variably as Petruzzo) and Nicola Garone (WWII era.)

Thanks for any help anyone is able to give on this.

You didn't mention year of births or possible cities (it may be on one of your other posts).

Lets see if this helps at all...

U.S. World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942
about Nicholas Garone
Name: Nicholas Garone
Birth Date: 19 Sep 1895
Residence: New York, New York
Birth: Dedeagatch, Bulgaria
Race: White
Roll: WW2_2283761

or....

World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
about Nicolas Garone
Name: Nicolas Garone
City: Brooklyn
County: Kings
State: New York
Birthplace: Italy
Birth Date: 1889
Race: Caucasian (White)
Roll: 1754227
DraftBoard: 30

If either is correct I will link them.

There are 4 which could be your Rocco..

Record Name Birth Date Race Birthplace Registration Place
(City, County, State) View Image
View Record Rocco Petruzzi 27 Apr 1888 Caucasian (White) Italy Brooklyn, Kings, NY
View Record Rocco Petruzzi 2 Dec 1896 New York Manhattan, New York, NY
View Record Rocco Petruzzi 4 Jul 1894 White New York;United States of America Manhattan, New York, NY
View Record Rocco Petruzzi 15 Feb 1897 Italy Not Stated, Luzerne, PA

Let us know if any of these are yours and I'll link them..but I need to go to work in a few hours so I'll be hitting the sack in a bit. Hope you post it soon.

Well Nicola was born in 1912 so none of those can be him.

However, Rocco was born in either 1890 or 1888. So I think that one might be him.

I have a few questions:

To whom would I write to get a physical copy of this card?

What does the card mean exactly?

And this Rocco Petruzzi is from the same town as my great grandfather, has about the same (or similar) year of birth, and name but a different address than my great grandfather had on both the 1920 and 1930 census. I guess I'll have to confirm the birthdate via a death certificate that I am going to order. And actually, there was another Rocco Petruzzi on the New York death idex database about the same age as my Rocco.

Hello jpgarone, I don't know if you are still a member of this board or not, but I'm giving it a shot; I also sent you a private message in the hopes that you would get it. My name is Anthony Sytko, I live in New Jersey. I read your post that your great-grandfather Rocco Petruzzi is from Gesualdo in Italy. My family is of the Petruzzi line, and we are also from Gesualdo. I'm willing to wager that we are distant cousins but didn't know it. I have a large amount of information on the Petruzzis (as well as the Verdis, who the Petruzzis were very closely related to). Please contact me either through e-mail (which I posted in the message) or PM me through this board if you get this message; I would love to hear from you and talk about how we can combine our trees.
