Surnames DiLallo, Mancini, Addario and Iezzie

Post by sjfee »

>>
>> My mother was Cynthia (Cinderella) Maria DiLallo, born to Camillo
>> DiLallo and Nicoletta Mancini. Camillo and Nicoletta's families are
>> from Lettomanopello. All known family names from Lettomanopello are
>> DiLallo, Mancini, Addario, Izzie (Izzy).
>>
>> There are many other names that married into our family but the four
>> listed here are our primary ancestry lines. I am having a very hard
>> time finding any line from this point for my Izzie family; which we
>> know could have been changed from/to Fezzie, Yezzie, Izzy, Izze....we
>> have found many spellings and some changing but have no proof by
>> which to be positive enough to place the information in our family
>> book/tree....we are desperately looking for facts we can pass down.
>>
>> My mother was one of eight daughters born to Camillo and Nicoletta.
>> The children of the DiLallo sisters will be meeting for the first
>> time in October 2011. Some of the cousins know one another but most
>> don't or haven't known each other long.
>>
>> Today we have no way of getting information beyond that which I have already provided as there are no living relatives we know of with the necessary information.
>>
>> We are hoping to plan a trip to Lettomanopello, Italy as a reunion of
> sorts.
>> All of us are of retirement age or very close to it and most of us
>> had this trip on our bucket lists....now....finding each other after
>> 1/2 century....the trip has kinda become mandatory for many of
>> us...me for sure....I am hoping to take it knowing I have living
>> family to find when I set my feet on Italian soil. Please help.
>>
>> From what I know Camillo's parents are Antonio DiLallo and
>> Filomena
>> (Philomena) Addario. He was 21 when he married my grand mother
>> Nicoletta Mancini. Nicoletta is the daughter of Carmine Mancini and
>> Angela (Angelina) Izzie. Nicoletta was 13 when she married Camillo.
>> I have the records of this marriage which lists the parents of bride
>> and groom. The spellings could and most liekly are not correct.
>> They had Mancini spelled as Manchini and Izzie shows many different
>> ways from the ships manifests I have found and also the records of
>> this marriage. The DiLallo and Addario names have changed some but
>> mostly from D'Addario dropping the original D' and then again
>> dropping from two
> "d" to one "d"
>> in the actual name itself. DiLallo changes from DiLallo to diLallo
>> or Dilallo....not too many other ways.
>>
>> I have found some records that seem very real and could be direct
>> ascendants of mine and my mother but I have not found absolute proof.
>> I hesitate to give it to my family as fact.
>>
>> Thank you in advance for any information you may be able to provide.

If you know the approx dates of birth/marriage of those born in Lettomanopello, you can write directly to the comune (town) to request records...

Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Piazza Umberto I, 1
65020 Lettomanoppello (PE)
ITALY

You should write your request in Italian and send no money unless/until asked to.

Having recently returned from our family reunion I was given information from the family bible I did not know existed. My great grand mother DiLallo was at one time a "Ricci" and an "Addario". I am not positive on either of the spellings for either name but I am using the spellings I have found on documents so I am hoping they are correct. We do not know if Ricci is the maiden name and Addario is a married name from a "first" marriage before she married my great grand father Antonio DiLallo or it is the other way around. We have also learned they located in New Mexico. We do not know if they stayed there or returned to Mass. where the rest of the family was.

We also have learned that it could be possible the Iezzi ancestry in my family is also a "first" marriage for Angela Mancini and if so, we have absolutely no idea what her maiden name was. We do know that on August 8, 1898 my grand mother Nicoletta was born. If Iezzi is the 1st husbands name then my grand mother Nicoletta would have been named Nicoletta Iezzi. It is said she was born in Turri, we have no idea. We now have her birth date, which I did not have prior to our family reunion.

I am hoping her birth date could be helpful in locating any information about her, using either birth name, Nicoletta Iezzi or Nicoletta Mancini....some where either in Turri, Lettmanoppello, Cheti, we do not know for sure, for sure Abruzzo area....this much we know but how many towns is that? Still sketchy but now with SOME facts....hopefully this will lead us to something with real names for her mothers side of the family.

Thanks so much Marty. There was no "prompt" to click on but there was an e-mail address. I wrote a letter and also had it translated to Italian and sent both as attachments to the e-mail address provided. I did tell them I am willing to pay for the information requested, which was proof of any part of my family. What should I expect to pay for records (per record I would imagine) I have requested? I just want to know what to expect.

Thanks again Marty for your help, I will let you know if I get a response to my e-mail and of course any information they are able to provide.

Unfortunately Marty the e-mail address I was able to locate on the page you referred me to is inactive and can't accept new mail.....bummer! I really thought I had found my link to my heritage...but sadly I am mistaken. Hopefully something will turn up, until then I am again without knowledge or any way of finding it.
