Gennaro Spadaro

Post by Lisa1566 »

I am currently trying to research my husbands ancesters. I have found some information on Gennaro Spadaro, but I can not seem to find out who his parents where. I do know he came to New York in 1888 at the age of 6. I need help finding out who his parents where.

Thanks,
Lisa

I think you found them. We have heard the name piccolo but could not make the connection. Gennaro married a Concetta Masucci, supposedly, she stayed with Piccolo's. How do you find all this? Are there any pictures of the draft cards? Thank you so much, Lisa

No: no sibling of Gennaro in Italy;
by mother name, in Cosenza archive of state, the result is only:
1. her birthact Image

2. the record of she, as mother 1 child(Gennaro Giorgio Spataro) and wife of Bonaventura Spataro...
all the best,

hi, I believe that I have some other clue abt Bonaventura Spataro:
New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
about B Spataro
Name: B Spataro
Arrival Date: 17 May 1884
Birth Year: abt 1856
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Port of Arrival: New York
Port Arrival State: New York
Port Arrival Country: United States
Ship Name: Scotia
line 103

last residence: S. Giorgi... the manifest is a bit damaged, but I have no doubts that is Bonaventura Spataro, father of Gennaro; if I am correct he arrived alone in USA, after arrived wife and child, and Bonaventura died in USA

your suggestions?

I don't know how you find all this, it's incredible. Do you think Bonaventura died in New York? If so, would you know how I could find that out? How could I find Bonaventura's parents?

Lisa I am pretty positive that the arrival is abt your Bonaventura Spataro; I know not where the family lived in USA in the first years of emigration, and also I know not when and where Maria Rosaria married at Orazio/Sam Piccolo;
Bonaventura Spataro is rare name in Cosenza area

and I found only 1 Bonaventura Spataro born in 1856, in Corigliano Calabro town, very close to San Giorgio Albanese town:

map http://maps.google.it/maps?hl=it&xhr=t& ... a=N&tab=wl

this Bonaventura Spataro born in Corigliano Calabro was the son of Francesco Spataro and Teresa Orlando, and this Bonaventura was born on 28 jun 1856
the record by army medical:

Ufficio Leva della Provincia di Cosenza, Liste di Leva della classe 1856.Registro numero 42,
atto numero - di pagina 12 sezione -
Bonaventura Spataro, iscritto il --/--/----
nato il 28/06/1856 a CORIGLIANO CALABRO
da Francesco Spataro e da Teresa Orlando

Image

but I know not if Gennaro father, but I am positive abt that...
I believe that to find the 1900 census could be helpful for to know abt the family in 1900 and where they lived, so having more infos we can have better idea where to search abt Bonaventura death record...
all the best,
suanj

I know that Gennaro arrived in 1888. At one point, he worked in New York as a street car conductor. I just assumed that Bonaventura and Maria Rosaria lived in New York. Maybe Bonaventura died in Pennsylvania?

According to the 1917 WWI Registration Card, Bonaventura Spadaro was a street car conductor in Rochester, NY -

So maybe he died in New York State, but not in New York City :-)
