Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

applicant marriage license?

Post by williamsburger »

My mother and I recently discussed the remaining errors to the documentation we will be submitting at the Newark Consulate in three weeks. One of these is her marriage license, which proves my own descent. However, if I wait to submit my application until she becomes a citizen, is there any reason for her to submit her marriage license now? Or can she apply without including it, and then submit it later after it's been fixed?

The applicant is required to submit his/her marriage certificate, but it's not a big issue. Submit it with the error, and explain that you are in the process of obtaining an amendment. Then you can mail or hand deliver the amended document when it arrives. I don't recall your specific situation, but this should not be a deal breaker.
