Frigento, Italy Vital Records
I would like to send for vital records or view them online, birth, death, and marriage for ancestors from Frigento. Has anyone had any success with this?
Grazie!

Hello Dolores
You can write directly to Frigento, Province of Avellino, Campania Region, for the records you seek. You should write your request in Italian and only ask for one or two records in each letter.
Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Piazza Municipio
83040 Frigento (AV)
ITALY

You can also visit your local LDS Family History Center to rent and view microfilms of the civil registrations of Frigento. There are films of births, marriages, and deaths from 1809 - 1910

Thank you both! Tessa, will there be a fee for the records? I have done this in the past for German records and the wire transfer was a nightmare. (and expensive)

WOW Sabino! That one Montecalvo was mine!
Do I need to do anything concerning the SIAS Code?
And what does "reformed for lack of stature" mean? I google translated it.

Do you mean DUGENTA (Benevento Province)?
Address:
Ufficion dello Stato Civile
Via Nazionale

ITALY
You do not need to send money - usually these records are free!

Yes, I believe I saw it spelled with and A as well as an O, but I am going to assume that it is DUGENTA. Thank you, Tessa. In your experience, how long should I expect it to take before I hear back from Italy?

That varies... with some I have heard back within 3-4 weeks - with others 3-4 months... and some I have had to send follow-up letters, but heard nothing.dmurphy1940 wrote:Yes, I believe I saw it spelled with and A as well as an O, but I am going to assume that it is DUGENTA. Generally, I think you will find that most comunes, especially the smaller ones, will respond fairly quickly if they have the records available.

Re: Frigento, Italy Vital Records
Sabino, I emailed as per your November 20th post, on Nicola Montecalvo and they replied attaching a letter in their email. I am not quite sure what the next step is for me to do. Is there a way for me to foward their email to you and you can explain it? I tried translating it, however I am not absolutely sure what to do.

Sabino, I should clarify, that it came as an attachment in the email and I had to download it. I do not know how to get that download on this forum...........
