There are no entries for Corsinato in the Italian White Pages, and I could not find anything even with google.
Are you sure about the spelling? If you have a document with this name can you post it?

I've been told the spelling might be Corcinado, but I have no official documents to support either spelling. I only know that my grandmother was born in Campobasso, Italy.

Hi, this is your ancestor:

First Name: Angela
Last Name: Corsinato
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian South
Last Place of Residence: C. Basso, Italy
Date of Arrival: Dec 16, 1909
Age at Arrival: 22y Gender: F Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Oceania (1909)
Port of Departure: Napoli
Manifest Line Number: 0016

sister Giuseppina in Campobasso and joining at brother Antonio in New York

pag 1 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0016

pag 2 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0016

line 17: Alessandro Viscardo step brother of Angela Corsinato ( but they have different surnames no maybe Angela never was legally adopted by Viscardo family), aunt Michelina Barletta in Campobasso, and joining at brother Antonio, same final destination of Angela Corsinato...
Now, because the only Corsinato is Angela, and joining at brother( or step brother) Antonio, I assume that Antonio had Viscardo surname, as a well the sister (or step sister) Giuseppina in Campobasso. In effects Antonio Viscardo immigrated in 1905:

First Name: Antonio
Last Name: Viscardo
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian
Last Place of Residence: Campobasjo
Date of Arrival: Mar 15, 1905
Age at Arrival: 22y Gender: M Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Cretic
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0027

http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0027

Now I live in Campobasso province and never I knew abt this surname, so I believe that Angela maybe was born from unknown parents and had Corsinato surname by civil records officer, and raised by Viscardo family.... just my suggestion,
regards,
suanj

PS I believe that John Armellino-member of IG- have all civil records of Campobasso, maybe he can try abt Angela birth, so we can know more....

I agree with Raffaella, Corsinato is not a surname indigenous to Campobasso and it might very well be a surname assigned to a proietta. I'm presently in Florida for a couple of weeks but when I return to New Jersey I'll check the birth records for Angela Corsinato. However, my FHC doesn't reopen until mid-January. BTW, Viscardo is not indigenous to CB either. The earliest Viscardo record in my database is Francesco Viscardo, born circa 06 JUN 1857 of unknown parents and placed in the care of wet nurse Lucia Presutti, wife of Giovanni Iacadoro. This appears to be the only Viscardo family in Campobasso, at least through the 1910 records. The Barletta family originated in Maddaloni. Antonio Barletta, born in Maddaloni on 11 FEB 1827, married (1) Maria Felicia Iacampo and (2) Maria Irene Palombo, both of Campobasso. He raised his family in Campobasso and Michelina Barletta probably descended from him.

I have an Antonio Viscardo in my database, born circa 1883, the son of Francesco and Anna Maria Valletta. He married Libera Grotte, proietta, on 08 OCT 1904 in CB. Source: Campobasso (Campobasso), Ufficio dello Stato Civile, Registri dello Stato Civile, 1809-1910, FHL INTL Film 1733315/MATRIMONI 1904/Numero 74, 08 OCT 1904. There is no record of any children between the marriage and 1910, which is an indication of possible emigration from CB.

Dear John,
I believe you right!
Antonio Viscardo emigrated in 1905 was married at emigration time, in 1906 Libera, wife of Antonio Viscardo emigrated also:

First Name: Libera
Last Name: Grotta
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Campobasso
Date of Arrival: Jun 18, 1906
Age at Arrival: 25y Gender: F Marital Status: M

Ship of Travel: Prinz Adalbert
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0005

http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0005
so no doubts that Antonio Viscardo that you found is the same emigrated...
I believe that Francesco Viscardo and Anna Maria Valletta raised Angela Corsinato..
thank you,
suanj

@Jean - In reviewing the manifests provided by Raffaella, I noticed that your grandmother was traveling to 684 Polk Street, West New York, New Jersey. This is just 4 or 5 blocks from where I grew up! Certainly your grandmother knew my grandparents. This location in the parish of Madonna della Libera, which was founded principally by families from Campobasso (Armellino, Licameli, Trivisonno, Romano, del Cioppo, etc). It's one of the oldest Italian parishes in New Jersey. Who did your grandmother marry in the US? If you would like any background on the parish or the town of WNY, feel free to send me a PM.

I am sure you are correct.I know Our Lady of Libera RC Church well. My grandparents, parents, two of my sisters and I were all married at masses at Our Lady of Libera Church. My grandparents and parents were also buried from masses at Our Lady of Libera. However, even though I had the Ellis Island records of when my grandmother arrived in America, I couldn't get any information prior to her arrival here. My grandmother married Vincenzo Santoro originally from Aquila.

It's a small world, Jean. My grandparents, parents, and sister were all married at Our Lady of Libera Church. Fr. Fanelli also performed my wedding, but at my wife's church down the shore. My great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents all had funeral masses at the church. They were all waked at either Failla's or Vanieri's across the street and buried at Flower Hill Cemetery. I attended Our Lady of Libera grammar school (which recently closed). My family owned and operated the Park Casino restaurant, right next to Miller Stadium and across from Miller Park. I'm sure either you or your family knows all of these places. I suspect I'll find your grandmother's birth record in the Campobasso films when my FHC reopens in mid-January. I also have some early baptismal and marriage records from Madonna della Libera (1902-1917) at my FHC, in case you need any records from the church. BTW, there were and are quite a few Santoro families in Campobasso.

John, were you able to find any information in the civil records for Campobasso, on my grandmother, Angela or Angelina Corsinato?
