Caroline Trombatore Latino

Post by jinx57 »

Looking for any info on Caroline Trombatore or Trombadore Latino. She died in Los Angeles, Ca sept.1904. Husband Guiseppe Latino. They came from Corleone, Sicily 1890 give or take a year or two. Have them in Louisiana in 1900. Los Angeles in 1910, however Caroline has died and Guiseppe has married Giovanna Catonia. Caroline's children are Frank, Joe, Lena, and Jennie. Jennie was my grandmother born June 12, 1904, just months before her mother passed away. Any help would be apreciated.

The site Familysearch.org has online the church records for the Parish of San Martino in Corleone...

This is an interesting marriage church record:

Number 49 - Year 1882
Marriage date: 30 april 1882

Groom: Latino Joseph (Giuseppe), son of Francesco and of Gioachina Billitti
Bride: Trombaturi Calogera, daughter of Bernardo and Liboria Timpa

Link to the image on Familysearch.org

:?: Possibly Calogera's first name was "americanized" in Caroline.

Do you know if they married in Italy or U.S.?

Thank you Laura for the info. And yes this my family. Always wanted to give Caroline a family. Since my grandmother (who raised me) never knew her mother, she always had a empty place, no names, no place of origin. Wish my grandmother was here to see the records! She passed in 1992. She remembered the step mother, who she said was an awful person. Thank you so much!

You're welcome :D
I believe that the first son born to Calogera and Joseph died as infant because there is another baptism act, just a few years later for another baby born to them with the same first name...

Baptism act number 94 - Year 1885

Francesco Paolo Latino was born in Corleone and baptized in the Church of San Martino on the day 20 february 1885, son of Giuseppe and Calogera Trombaturi, here is the link to the image (act is in latin)

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... c=11906840

In fact this is a record from Ancestry.com for Francesco Paolo:

U.S. Naturalization Records - Original Documents, 1795-1972
(World Archives Project)

Name: Francesco Paolo Latino
Age: 33
Birth Date: 19 Feb 1885
Birth Location: Italy
Spouse: Concettina
Arrival Year: 1890
Issue Date: 7 Mar 1918
State: California
Locality, Court: Southern District, Central Division, Los Angeles, California, District Court
Record Type: Declaration of Intention

Another child born on 1888:

Baptism act number 339 - Year 1888

Latino Bernarda (female) was born in Corleone on 14 july 1888 and baptzied the same day in the Church of San Martino. Daughter of Giuseppe Latino and Calogera Trombaturi.

Yes , I believe she died at 8 months of age on March 1889, this is the death record from the parish register:

19 march 1889, Death of Bernarda Latino daughter of Joseph Latino and Calogera Firmaturi (possibly this was a mistake of the priest)

image here:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... c=11906921

and... gender was incorrect but I think this may have been the 1891 arrival manifest for Calogera Trombaturi (travelling under her maiden name becauuse here in Italy women keep their maiden name for all their lifes even if married)

from Ancestry.com:

New Orleans Passenger Lists, 1820-1945

Name: Calogera Ceombatore
Arrival Date: 8 Dec 1891
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Ethnic Background: Italian
Port of Departure: Palermo, Italy
Ship Name: Capitain
Port of Arrival: New Orleans, Louisiana
National Archives' Series Number: M259_76

travelling with Francesco Trombaturi age 6 (possibly her son)

image here:
http://postimage.org/image/k7tqwbx7v/
please note that she was travelling with Angelo Trombatore, male, age 40 and Vincenzo Trombatore male age 44.

Thank you yet again! You have helped so much in giving my great grandmother her family. Since she passed in 1904, we knew little about her. Angelo and Vincenzo may have been uncles or brothers. I really have no idea. You have been a great help!
