Looking for family of Giovanni MIGLIACCIO (B 1894) of Naples

Post by JCalandra »

Hello,
I am searching for Giovanni Migliaccio's family which I believe are from Naples area! Giovanni was born June of 1894. He arrived in America in 1909. Lived in New York where he married Carmela Dimarco. They had 5 children: Joseph, Vincent, John, Lorenze, and Loretta.
I believe Giovanni had at least a brother Pasquale married to Anna and according to the 1930 Census had a son Joseph. I would appreciate any help in finding Giovanni's parents and other ancesters. Thank You! Jim Calandra

Jim,

Do you have a copy of Giovanni's passenger manifest? By 1910 there should be information about who he was leaving & where that are wonderful clues about the place of origin.

(Also, it's a long shot, I know, but are you by chance related to the Jim Calandra whose second wife was Jean Pisano Roccanova?)

Also, so that we know we are the right track, can you confirm that this is your family?

Finally (at least until you come back :) ) do you have a copy of Giovanni & Carmela's marriage license? If not, you can order it here:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vi ... iage.shtml

The index at ItalianGen.org says they were married on November 7, 1920 in Kings County, New York; the certificate # is 15842. This record will almost certainly have Giovanni & Carmela's parents names on it.

THANKS for all the pesponses WOW! Let me answer the many questions asked. Since I started 20 years ago I have to see if I ever saw a passenger manifest for Giovanni! To Debiharbuck: No I am not THAT Jim Calandra. My wife is the grand daughter of Giovanni. I do have a copy of the census that IS the right family. No I do not have a copy of Giovanni & Carmela's marriage certificate. Thanks for that info!
Thanks suanj for the info on Pasquale and Giovanni!

Good morning, Jim! (And, I knew you were not THAT Jim - he passed away several years ago...just wondering if you might be connected. Stranger things have happened!)

Do you know if your Giovanni spent time in Pennsylvania before returning to NYC? (Trying to sort all the records that Suanj posted...)
