Help with search for Birth Certificate

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Help with search for Birth Certificate

Post by mikesantorosr »

Hello,

I'm trying to find the birth certificate for Guiseppe Carlucci. I have his naturalization record but ancestry doesn't have records from 1874 in Avigliano. Any ideas. Trying to find out more information about his parents and his wife Anne born in 1893.

oh any idea why it says "King" in nationality?

Allegiance to the "King of Italy" :-)

Do you have the arrival manifest for Giuseppe? It seems from the naturalization card that he was a bout 8-9 years old when he arrived. Probably arrived with his parents.

Also, is the birth year for wife, Anne, 1893? When did they marry? and did they live in New York?

Took a look at your family tree on Ancestry... something just doesn't add up :-(

You have Angelina(Anne) listed with DOB of 1893, and then a marriage date of 1902.. :?
That would make her 9 years old when they married...

So I took a look at the 1920 census you have for the family... Angelina is 37 years old. That would make her DOB 1883 :-)
She does list an arrival date of 1902.
EDIT: I also found a 1900 Census for them on Purdy Ave in PortChester, NY
Anne lists her date of birth as August 1873 (age 26) :?
One child, Angela, born March, 1898 in New York.

Based on the 1920 Census...
First son Dominick (Domenico?) was born about 1903-1904...
Here are the listings from the NEW YORK CITY BIRTH INDEX
Carlucci Domenico Oct 7 1903 44131 Manhattan
Carlucci Domenico May 26 1904 24522 Manhattan

Maybe one of them is their son?

You can request a copy of a birth record which will give Angelina' maiden name :-)

While looking at the 1900 census record, I noticed that they stated they were married for about 4 years... so about 1896?

Also I believe Guiseppe Carlucci married twice. That his first wife Anne passed away and he remarried any Angelina. So I think that's whats making it confusing.

Okay I found one a marriage publication for Giuseppe Carlucci in 1897. I thought his fist wife's name was Anne. Can someone please help me decipher the name of his wife and the names of their parents. Could Carmella??? be short for Anne?

****Also their was an amazing PDF I saw on this website that helped with understanding the handwriting on these documents. Anyone know of that one or any others?

Also found what I think could be his second marriage publication to Angelina?

Do Giuseppe's parents names match the ones from above?

okay last post on this subject from me today...but Tessa I saw that census you posted and I think Giuseppe married Anne she died and then he married her sister Angelina????

If that's true than both parents names should match on the above certificates???

Mike lets start back at the beginning is the 1900 census that Tessa put on here correct did Giuesppe and Anne live on Purdy Ave in PortChester, NY? What are the name of there kids? Did they live there their whole lives. Did Giuesppe Carlucci have any brothers? Did he die in NY?

I believe the census is correct. They lives in PortChester on Purdy Ave. Giuseppe had one daughter named Angelina with Anne. However, she was born in NY so I cant locate her birth certificate without ordering it. Giuseppe married again to an Angelina and had Dominick, William, Salvatore, Nikolas, Elizabeth exct. All if which were born in the US as well. No clue about their parents siblings. Or place of death.
