Italian Military Records? Francesco SanGermano

Post by darthsmozers »

Hi,

I have a photo of my maternal grandmother's father. He appears to be dressed in a military uniform from Italy. He is from Casteltermini, Agrigento, Sicily, Italy. He was born Jan 5 1900, and his name is Francesco SanGermano (or San Germano with a space?)

Are there Italian Military records that could be searched for this individual?

I've included a photo in case anyone is an expert on Italian military uniforms.

Thank you so very much.

Today I received a reply!! They actually sent a scan of a record for me, broken into two images. (I imagine the third image is a sort of cover letter).

Can anyone translate? The first part of the record seems easy enough - he is the son of Cologero San Germano and Rosa De Carlo.

Yes, his father is Calogero and his mother is Rosa De Carlo.

Here is his birth record...
Dated 6 January 1900 at the town hall
Father Calogero San Germano (separated :-) ), age 29, a sulfur miner, appeared at the town hall to declare that on the 5th of January to Rosa De Carlo, his wife, a seamstress, living with him was born a male child. The child was given the name Francesco...

One of the other volunteers will translate your military record... :-)
