Giacomo Trotta Family Line from Castellano
I am trying to find out what I can about my 2nd Great Grandfather. I know at least one son is Giacomo Trotta (1874-1902) that according to ships manifest arrived in New York 22 May 1902 coming Castellano and headed for Bridgeport CT. The manifest shows that he was married. His wife was Carmella Forlenza (1882-1960). They lived in Baltimore. Recently I obtained a copy of Giacomo's death certificate that says his father was Benjamin Trotta and his mother's maiden name was Magliano. I don't really know where to start. I do figure that Benjamin would have been an Americanized version of Beniamino. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Castellano is a hamlet of Villa Lagarina, Trentino.
You might want to email the Comune of Villa Lagarina to inquire if they hold the civil registrations for Castellano...

"Trotta" doesn't sound to me a surname from Northern Italy.
If this is the person you are referring to:
First Name: Giacomo
Last Name: Trotta
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian
Last Place of Residence: Castel D. La..
Date of Arrival: May 22, 1902
Age at Arrival: 28y Gender: M Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Lombardia
Port of Departure: Napoli
Manifest Line Number: 0008
I saw the manifest, and he seems to be from Castel di Sasso, province of Caserta.
This is the address:
Via F. S. Campagnano
Castel di Sasso (CE) CAP 81040

Hello,
PippoM is correct... Trotta is no a Trentino's lastname as well as Forlenza..
I believe this may have been a 1904 arrival manifest for Giacomo Trotta:
27 december 1904
Trotta Giacomino, age 34, male, married, from Campagna (Salerno Province - Campania region) going to Pittston PA to join his brother in law Antonio Forlenza living on 31 South Main street - Pittston PA. Giacomino stated that he was in the U.S. before, from 1899 to 1903 (Pittston)

Re: Giacomo Trotta Family Line from Castellano
PippoM - Giacomo was the son of Benjamin who I am trying to find out more about. So I need to be looking towards Campagna? I have a paid membership on ancestry and access to the international data but I can't find anything that matches using the info I have. Birth record for Giacomo or his marriage to Carmella Florenza. What do I do with the info regarding Castel di Sasso as I do not read or write Italian?
Pinky67: I was able to find the information on Beradino and Carmella on ancestry but I did not know that Ma in front of a name stood for Maria until just now - always learning- thank you.

Well, now I think Laura is right.
Probably I just repeated the search on Ellis Island you had already done.
So, you should look towards Campagna, not Castel di Sasso.
Unfortunately, there are no resources online about Campagna, nor there are at LDS Genealogical Centers (I know it as one of the towns my surname is more common in is Campagna).
