Del Lungo Family of Florence - Help please

HI everyone,

This is my first post and I hope to find out some information on the Del Lungo family from Florence.

Demetrio Del Lungo (my great-great-great-grandfather) was born about 1841 and he married Elene Chiavacci. She was born about 1840 in Le Piastre and her father was Giovanni.

Demetrio and Elena had three daughters: Antoniette born about 1866, Vittoria born about 1868 and Emma born about 1869, all in Florence.

Demetrio, Elena, Antoniette and Emma came to Australia in 1877. I can't find out when Vittoria came here but know she did as she is my great-great grandmother. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me if birth records for the daughters or any of the family exist and if they do, I'll write and ask for copies of them.

Hi Phil,

Are you sure that Demetrio's daughters were born in Florenze?.. Le Piastre is an hamlet of the town of Pistoia which is a different province than Florence... Florence is both a town and a province.

The daughters were born in Florence town, the baptism act for all the child born in Florence town are online om this site:

Del Lungo Vittoria Giuseppa Maria daughter of Demetrio son of the living Natale and of Elena daughter of the living Giovanni Chiavacci. She was born on the same day.

Del Lungo Virginia Claudia Emma Maria daughter of Demetrio son of the living Natale and of Elena daughter of Giovanni Chiavacci. I think she was born on the day 6 February 1870

Hi Pink,

That's absolutely terrific, thank you for taking so much time to search the records for me, I really appreciate it. I'll be doing a lot more searching in these records myself now to see what else I can find.

Can I ask if you'd know there would be actual birth certificates available or are these baptism records all they have?

Would you happen to know of a similar resource for Lipari?

For sure there are the civil birth registrations for these births in the Comune (Town Hall) of Florence.
