Terry,
the 1910 census is right, but just that... on the http://www.gangrule.com/events/struggle ... -1914-1918 the name is Carmine... on death record is Carmelo
Mollico Carmelo 35 y May 7 1915 14707 (1915) Manhattan 1879 - 1880
however just by arrival we can know the right italian birthplace... regards,
suanj

well I searched so much abt several Carmelo/Carmine Mollica arrival...
the possible record is abt a Carmine Mollica, but the him parent's names was no Giuseppe Mollica and Rosa Greco...

I read all articles that I found abt the italian gangs in 1910s and 1920s of New York.

Joe "Chuck" Nazzaro ( born with the name of Generoso NAZZARO and not Generossi) ordered the death of Carmine( or Carmelo, but more probably Carmine right first name) Mollica:
He sold his café in E108th to Carmine Mollica, shortly after the sale Mollica was ambushed and killed. Nazzaro was arrested but later released.
source http://www.gangrule.com/biographies/generossi-nazzaro
well, Generoso Nazzaro was born in Avellino town, Campania region.. and he was a member of neapolitan gang and the other members all was born in Campania region http://books.google.it/books?id=uX29UdJ ... rn&f=false ( pag 117-118)

Generoso Nazzaro came in USA in 1901 and not in 1904 as wrote on http://www.gangrule.com/biographies/generossi-nazzaro

the arrival:
Nassaro, Generoso Avellino 10 1891 1901
First Name: Generoso
Last Name: Nassaro
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian
Last Place of Residence: Avellino
Date of Arrival: Feb 23, 1901
Age at Arrival: 10 Gender: M Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Archimede
Port of Departure: Napoli
Manifest Line Number: 0012

http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0012

the surname is wrote Nassaro but is Nazzaro right, and with mother Carolina NAZZARO nee DICONE and the him brother Michele NAZZARO joining at Luigi Nazzaro father in New York;
the family in 1910:
1910 United States Federal Census about Luigi Nazzaro

Domenick Cossoni

back at this info:

He sold his café in E108th to Carmine Mollica, shortly after the sale Mollica was ambushed and killed. Nazzaro was arrested but later released.

I believe that Generoso Nazzaro sold his café to Mollica because maybe both they was born in same region (Campania); it are no evidence that also Mollica was a member of neapolitan gang, but the only idea that I have, it is that Generoso Nazzaro never would have sold to a Sicilian or Calabrian...
because he was a little king in 108th st and I believe that Generoso never wanted a sicilian or calabrian in the " own" street and "own" café.....

That for to have a full control of 108th street...
Nazzaro and Mollica became enemies by the newspaper article of Carmine Mollica death:

http://www.fultonhistory.com/Newspaper% ... ehtml&.pdf
so they was friends before of that... and I believe that also Mollica was born in Campania region...
I found just I Carmine Mollica born around 1877 in Teano ( Caserta province, Campania region) married in Italy (Teano 16 jun 1901 at Nunzia La Prova) and he came in USA in 1907
Carmine Mollica Teano, Italy 1907 30
First Name: Carmine
Last Name: Mollica
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Teano, Italy
Date of Arrival: Jun 17, 1907
Age at Arrival: 30y Gender: M Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Roma
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0017

http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0017
and the final destination was Lawrence, MA, joining at brother in law Antonio La Prova...

I cannot find it in MA censuses as a well in WWI draft registration card...
In 1905 was born the first child: Angelo Carmine Mollica..

the problem is that by marriage act of this Carmine, the parent's names was Angelo Mollica and Santa Caterina Nardone.. and no Giuseppe Mollica ( decesead at Carmine marriage date) and Rosa Greco

but we know not if the infos on Carmelo/Carmine death certificate are ok....

You say that the birthplace was Reggio Calabria.. I found just another:

First Name: Carmine
Last Name: Mollica
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Scilla
Date of Arrival: Apr 16, 1905
Age at Arrival: 20y Gender: M Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Moltke
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0023

Scilla is in Reggio Calabria province...
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0023

the age on the ship's manifest is 28 and with correction seeming: 20 old and joining at cousin Giuseppe Giordano in 141 Mulberry st New York...

this second record, seeming to match abt the birtharea and the final destination, but my only doubt is abt the age.. 28 or 20??
also matching the marital status: single and in 1910 census Carmelo/Carmine was at first marriage, Rose at second marriage( but I no found the marriage at Carmelo/Carmine)

frankly... at part the age problem on the ship's manifest,

this Carmine Mollica from Scilla seeming a more probable record..

and why Nazzaro "neapolitan" sold the cafè to a calabrian man is a mystery....

your suggestions????

well maybe I found another clue...
Mollica is a popular surname in south Italy and in the search, we must to check all data...

in my previous reply, you can read that Carmine Mollica, last residence Scilla (Reggio Calabria) came in 1905... joining at Giuseppe Giordano cousin in 141 Mulberry St New York

Searching abt the Mollicas of Scilla or Reggio Calabria, I found:

First Name: Salvatore
Last Name: Mollica
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Reggio
Date of Arrival: May 30, 1906
Age at Arrival: 21y Gender: M Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Lazio
Port of Departure: Napoli
Manifest Line Number: 0002
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0002
joining at brother MOLLICA Carmelo 141 Mulberry st New York

the Carmine( or Carmelo.. in Italy it is used as same first name) Mollica arrived in 1905 from Scilla, it must be your ancestor and this Salvatore must be the brother, because the address is the same... and also the cousin Giuseppe Giordano I believe that came from Gallicò hamlet of Reggio Calabria...

Dear Suanj,
Thank you so much for your help. Maybe this could be the carmine I am looking for. Do you know how I would go about trying to find his birth certificate. On his death certificate it says that he was 34 when he died in 1915, I am not sure. However I know that he never married my grandmother Anna Rosa Montana.

I also read in gangrule.com rules that Nazzaro needed money because he just got out of prison and sold the cafe to my grandfather and than murdered him. He was arrested for it, but they let him go because there was no proof, that is probably why he sold the cafe to him! To kill him.

What do you think?

I have been looking for so long, and I can't thank you enough for the help you have given me.

I just don't know what to do next!!!
Thanks

Dear Suanj,
After talking to my brother he thinks that the carmelo and Salvatore that came from San Fartello was our ancestor, because my grandfather lived and was killed on 108th st. And my father also grew up there. Perhaps they told him that his father was from Reggio because of the gang wars. My brother also thinks that he may have been from a small village around san Frantello, because he had a friend check the birth records from San Fratello and was unable to find them. Do you have any ideas how we can locate his birth certificate? Again Thank you for everthing!!!

Terry, maybe you no read my previous posts.. the Carmelo Mollica from San Fratello that had a brother Salvatore also born in San Fratello are NOT related your ancestor.. the age on the ship's manifest ofthis Carmelo is wrong ( he was born abt 1869)..

I found him marriage in San Fratello as a well the trip of him wife( Benedetta) and this Carmelo after some year USA residence, immigrated in Canada...
I believe that your ancestor is Carmine Mollica from SCILLA-REGGIO CALABRIA; Carmine also had a brother with first name Salvatore( maybe for that the confusion)..

I am pretty sure that your ancestor was Carmine Mollica from Scilla( Scilla-Reggio Calabria= last residence) because all data matching...

Dear Suanj,
I'm sorry I didn't realize that the marriage records were for the same person. Because my father was only 5 when he was murdered and they lived on 105th st in Harlem, that is the only information we have. But if the birth dates were wrong than it makes sence what you are saying.

So I will try somehow to find the birth certificate of carmine mollica in Scilia-Reggio Calabria.

Do you know where I can look?
Again thank you so much for your help. If it was for you I will still know nothing.

Thanks

Terry: Carmine last residence was Scilla; the brother Salvatore last residence was Reggio Calabria.. maybe he declared Reggio Calabria because Scilla is in Reggio Calabria province...
However...
or Scilla town( Province: Reggio Calabria) or Reggio Calabria town ( Province: Reggio Calabria also) I believe that this Carmine Mollica is your ancestor... because is the only possible....

no further possible records...
I believe that the next step could be to search in Scilla civil records by LDS:

Registri dello stato civile di Scilla (Reggio di Calabria), 1809-1910

authors: Scilla (Reggio di Calabria). Ufficio dello stato civile
format: Manuscript/Manuscript on Film
language: Italian
publication: Salt Lake City, Utah : Filmati dalla Genealogical Society of Utah, 1988-1993
physical: in 33 bobine di microfilm ; 16 mm.

Births, deaths, marriages, marriage banns, miscellaneous documents, marriage documents, ten-year indexes, citizenship records.
https://www.familysearch.org/search/cat ... m%2F372987

and you can be sure that is your Carmine (birth year 1885 abt.. 1884 or 1886 etc you must search..) if the parent's names on the birth act are Giuseppe Mollica and Rosa Greco...

If you no found .. you can search in Reggio Calabria civil records by LDS also:

https://www.familysearch.org/search/cat ... m%2F372941

It is just a hope but I believe that you will find...
best wishes,
suanj

Dear Suanj,
I believe that you are right, I have ordered the microfirm for LDS, and I will look for him. If that doesn't work I will try to go to
the town of Scilla to try to find it.

Even though I have been looking for so long, I'm not going to give up.

Thank you so much, I will let you know what I find!!

Best Wishes
