More Ferrara research and brick wall!

Post by deejasmine »

I am working systmatically through the Ferrara Family - next up by GG-Grandmother and her oldest son:

Maria Genovese Ferrara
b Aug 1845 in Italy
Arrived Nov 1897 vessel Bolivia - meeting husband Ignazio @ 230 Elizabeth St. NY - traveled w/ daughter Francesca and grandchildren

1900 census for Pawling, NY
- widowed (4/10/1900) and living with son:
Vincenzo Ferrara
b 1867 in Italy
m to Maria Mar 1861
children:
Mary Dec 1890 in Italy
Rosey June 1893 in Italy
(Eugina 1896 found on manifest but not on 1900 census)

I am unable to find any of these individuals on any other census and have been unsuccessful at locating Vincenzo or Maria's manifest

Any ideas of where to look next?
Thank you
~Denise

Hello Denise!

Here is a possible NYC Death index listing for Eugenia Ferrara's death.

Ferrera Eugenia 1 y Sep 18 1897 15389 Kings

You can request from NYC Vital records using the cert. # 15389 and borough of Kings (Brooklyn) as this site

Thank you Tessa! I greatly appreciate the assistance - what a loss that must have been after coming over from your home-country to start a new life. Very sad.

Tessa;
May not be her afterall - the previous information I have is that she arrived here Nov 1898 - born in 1897 - unless the Sept date is her birthdate and not her death date?

18 Nov 1898 manifest
18 Nov 1898 SS Alsatia, Naples to NY
Lines 6-9
- last residence Alimena
- joining husband Vincenzo Ferrara at 243 Elizabeth Street, New York
Ma Concetta Gianno? 46 (abt 1852)
Daughters:
Maria Ferrara 8 (abt 1890)
Rosalia? Ferrara 5 (abt 1893)
Eugenia Ferrara 1 (abt 1897)

I will have to look into that a bit further I guess. - thanks again! ~D
