Colello family from Vieste, Foggia, Italy

Post by rosyrae »

I'm searching for my great grandfather's ancestors in Vieste, Foggia, Italy. My great grandfather was Michele Colello and he was born in 1890 in Vieste. He married Caterina Cavaglieri and my grandmother was born in 1912. They came to Portland, ME in 1913 via Boston, Massachusetts. I have since found out that Michele's father was Donato Colello and I think his mother's name was Lucrezia Concetta Pecorella, though she was called Concetta in some records (my grandmother's name was Lucrezia). I have also found a brother, Mauro Colello, who was born in Italy in 1899, but married in Portland, ME and died in Portland, ME in 1958. His parents were also Donato and Lucrezia. So, I would really like to know when Michele's father was born and if he was also from Vieste.

Any Italian families from Portland, ME with roots in Vieste, Foggia, Italy? I am trying to find out as much as I can exploring records here in the states before I try to write for records in Foggia as I do not speak Italian.

Thanks!

Hi, everyone. Still working on my Colello family from Vieste. I got quite a few records from FHL. Trouble is, the copies aren't great and I am having trouble reading and translating them! Anyone have any advice?

Thanks!
