to declare that at 11 AM yesterday (19th) at the place at contrada Signore (no number) died Maria Ippolita Samela, age 83, peasant farmer, residing in and born in Avigliano to deceased Domenico, peasant farmer; and deceased Domenica Luongo, peasant farmer; both residents of Avigliano in their lifetimes; widow of Giuseppe Margiotta.
Witnesses to the record: marco Lovalle, 60, PF; and Donato Corbooo, 50, PF.

Am I reading this right? Maris Ippolita is the widow of Giuseppe Margiotta means that Giuseppe Margiotta predeceased her otherwise would it say wife of ?

Seems like a silly question but can't wrap my head around it tonight.

Yes, at the time of Maria's death at age 83, her husband Giuseppe Margiotta had already died. It clearly states "vedova di Giuseppe Margiotta"
