Looking for Salito's

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Looking for Salito's

Post by cathyt902 »

I'm looking for my paternal great grandparents. The Salito family settled in Trinidad, Colorado. My grandmother was born in Colorado, however her father came from Italy. I'm not sure what part of Italy or what was his port of entry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

ok, I believe that your italian ancestor was Salvatore Salito married at Francesca Cardinale; they had this children( by a genealogic tree on ancestry.com):

)

Thomas Anthony Salito 1895* – 1972 ; ( spouse: Florence Emma Ward)
( *by WWI draft registration card > BIRTH: 26 Jan 1893 - Colorado)

and some other children, no name on the genealogic tree, sorry.. I know not if the below record is right...:

Great records :D !
The spelling on the 1900 and 1920 census records in Las Animas County Colorado is awful.
I can't find the records either. I'll keep looking

great find Valarie!
I found that the original surname in Alia was SOLITO and not Salito.

I found the birth act of Joseph SOLITO; him first name was Isadoro changed in Joseph in USA;
SOLITO Isadoro born in Alia on the 9 November 1884 #287
son of Salvatore SOLITO age 25, and Francesca Cardinal

Oh my suanj!
WOW, what fantastic records you've found :D
Surname Solito makes much more sense
Perhaps we'll find their manifest in New Orleans with Isidoro?
I found a note on son Isidoro (Joseph's) death in a 1903 Denver newspaper - an accident, he was jumping on/off a moving train ...
Big Hug!
Valarie

from the grandparent's names, daughter Anne was probably born before Rosalia
