The annotations are marks for checks that were made from time to time to be sure that clerks did not insert records inappropriately.
For instance, in this register, the check seems not to have worked.
In fact, the date of the second is October 2nd, 1903, and states that the register was blank, but the following record is dated September 23rd, 1902 :shock:

Declarer (father): Cipriano Michele, 46 years, peasant, living in Frigento, 25 Contrada Pagliarulo.
Mother: Mariantonia Famiglietti, peasant.
Birth date: August 27th, 1902 at 8:25 a.m.
Witnesses: Giuseppe Melchionna, 33, land-owner
Carmine Pelosi, 53, land-owner

Right side annotation states she married Stamo (?) Nunziante in Frigento on September 27th, 1937 (?)

What Pippo wrote as Stamo (?) is the surname Stanco. Nunziante can be a first or last name, but in Frigento was a first name

Record #143 for Antonio Cipriano dated Dec 16, 1900 at 9:25 a.m.

Appearing was Vincenzo Cipriano, age 37, peasant/farmer living in Frigento. He reported that at 10:15 P.M. on the 13th, in the house at 7 Contrada Massariola, a male infant was born to his wife Teresina Montecalvo, a peasant/farmer, who was living with him. The infant whom he was presenting was named Antonio. Witnesses were Carmine Pelosi,age 53, property owner, and Carmine Martone, age 39, a peasant/farmer. The witnesses signed the document, but the informant was illiterate and did not.


Record #98 for Carmine Cipriano dated Dec 18. 1905 at 9:25 a.m. in the town hall of Frigento. Appearing was Giuseppantonio Cipriano, age 24, a peasant/farmer in Frigento. He reported that at 7:15 P.M., on the 16th of the current month, in the house at #6 Contrada San Stefano, a male infant was born to his wife, Rosaria Famiglietti, a peasant/farmer, who was living with him. The male infant, whom he was presenting, was given the name Carmine. Witnesses were Donato Di Renzo, age 53, a property owner, and Carmine Pelosi, age 57, also a property owner. Both were residents in the town. The two witnesses, together with the town official, signed the document. The informant was illiterate and did not.

Dated 20 December 1905 at 9:25 AM at the town office in Frigento
Vincenzo Cipriano (father) age 42, peasant farmer, declared that at 8:15 PM on the 18th of the month at the place at Contrada Pannizza #19, to Teresina Montecalvo, his wife, peasant farmer living with him, was born a female child. He presented the child to the official and she was given the name CARMINA.

Dated Jan 26, 1906 at 9:40 a.m. in the town hall of Frigento
Appearing was Rosina Parazzi, age 30, a midwife who reported that, at 10:15 A.M. on the 23rd of the current month, in the house at #20(or 22?) Contrada Confine,a female infant was born to Giuseppa Ciampi, a peasant/farmer, wife of Donantonio Montecalvo, who were both living in Frigento. The female baby was being presented and given the name Chiarina Rosaria. Witnesses to the presentation and declaration were Giuseppe Calo`, 56, a butcher and Donato Di Renzo, age 53, property owner. The informant announced the birth in place of the infant's father because he had emigrated to the Americas and couldn't.

Record #18-I can't seem to access.

The infant was being presented and given the name Maria Rosaria. Witnesses were Giuseppe Flammia, age 63, a property owner, and Carmine Pelosi, age 58, a property owner. The document was signed by the official and the witnesses. The informant was illiterate and did not sign.
