Record # 1
marriage of Nicola Montecalvo and Angiolina Ciampi
Dated Jan 16, 1896 at 10:25 a.m. in the town hall of Frigento

Groom: Nicola Montecalvo, age 23, peasant/farmer born and resident in Frigento. He was the son of deceased Marciano Montecalvo, a resident in Frigento when he was alive, and Carmina Ciriello, a resident in Frigento.

Bride: Angiolina Ciampi, age 16, peasant/farmer, daughter of deceased Nunziante Ciampi and (living) Maria Rosaria D’Agostino.

Witnesses were Filippo Alberto Testa, age 39, a teacher, and Antonio Villani, age 38, a (speziale)-don’t know what this occupation is-possibly connected to the Italian word for spices.

Marriage publications were on the 5th and 12th of Jan.

The mothers of the spouses were present to give their consent. The spouses and mothers did not sign the document, as they were illiterate. Therefore the document was only signed by the two witnesses and the town official

Your welcome, Dolores. It seems that "lo speziale" had a shop in which he prepared medicines from prescriptions and also sold herbs and drugs. This link is in Italian.
