Re: Need Help Translating
First of all, I see that the surname keeps changing in spelling. In the marriage record above, it is clearly written as Marella. In the death record for Nicolantonio #251, I found that, in the (index for 1854 deaths-image 12- left column) it is written as Marano, and that's what it looks like in the actual death record.
#251-Dated July 22, 1854 death also on the 22nd
Nicolantonio Marano, age 44, day laborer, son of deceased Sergio and deceased Scelza Simone. He was the husband of Antonia Cipriani. Then it lists the surviving children's names: Sergio, age 17, Mauro, 11, Scelza, 7, Pantaleo, 3, and Cataldo, 9 months.

Re: Need Help Translating
Yes it could be but the spelling looks different I look at the next line at the capital S it doesn't look the same and I don't see a z in the name

Re: Need Help Translating
The name looks like Eccelsa de Simone. In the other record, it is Scelza Simone. The name appears to be derived from the Latin word excelsus which means high or lofty. I think they are just variations in spelling of the same name.adelfio wrote:1816 Dec 28 in the town of Molfetta death of Sergio Marolla age 29 son of Nicolantonio and Nicola Bufo married to ??laide de Simonebluefairy79 wrote:Can anyone help on this one...
