Grandfather's entry into USA

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Grandfather's entry into USA

Post by giovannitsil »

Hi!

My grandfather on my fathers side immigrated to USA in 1905. I have been trying to find
his listing on a ship coming into New York. So far not successful. His name is Salvatore Guccione from Alia, Palermo province, Sicily. Can anyone help?

Thanks; John Guccione

Tessa78;

GF born 11 Feb 1876. He may have entered US thru Detroit from Canada. He should have had is wife, GM, Lucia and two children with him. Children Giovanni and Josephina. I have some indication he might have come thru Ellis Island, NY. Might have been bound for LA to uncle Rusio Salvadore, not sure about spelling.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I have run up against a wall and can't seem to get around it.

Thanks; John Guccione

Suanj;

I believe I owe you an apology. I believe I may have misspelled your name. PLease accept my apology if I did.

I have been thinking about having you or your organization research my Sicilian heritage. For what I can gather, the Guccione name is probably Tuscan. I have found some references to a knight Don Antonino Guccione who fought with Garibaldi at Aspromonte. Also a reference to a knight Don Joseph Guccione who was mayor of Alia 1873 to 1878.

The given name of Joseph is common in my family.

Do you have any idea what the cost of doing the research would be?

Again, thank you for your help.
