Donato Spina/ Marianna Tomaro families

Post by jgwbsrt »

Am looking for info on grandfather Donato Spina (b 1884) and his family (parents and or siblings) from Colle d'Anchise Campobasso Molise. His father is Jospeh Spina, mother unk. He immigrated to Dunbar, PA around 1900. He married Marianna Tomaro (b 1886) from Palermo, Sicily. Her father is Michael Tomaro and her mother is Josephinia Ammatuzia. Their children were all born in Pa and include Delores, Joseph, Margaret, Maria, Albert , James, Ernest, Marcella and James (deceased) my father. Any information is greatly appreciated. Am hoping to find some cousins!

Could you be more specific as to what your research goals are?
Are you looking to connect with family in Italy or in U.S.?
Do you want records of birth, marriage and death to trace your family history? Are you interested in ship manifest, census or naturalization papers? Were your grandparents married in Italy or Pa?

You gave great detail with regard to names....

Thank you for your reply. I am doing geneaology on my dad's family and am interested in knowing names of g grandparents with vital info such as dob and or dod. I would like to know anything I can find out about my dad's family since they did not stay in touch with each other. I am interested in connecting with cousins on both side of the ocean if possible. I was told that my grandparents marriage was arranged and took place in Italy. If I can get copies of vital records that would be even better. I would like to trace as far back as possible.

I already have a ship manifest of my grandfather and have sent away for naturalization papers. All information I have has come from census records and my grandfather and grandmother's death certificates. I have been researching for 4 years and the few cousins I have managed to make contact with know less than me.

Could someone help locate the above place for microfilm
at the Lds site?
You can also send for records to the town of origin if they have not been
microfilmed.

The civil records are available for Colle d'Anchise from the FAmily History Center. The dates are 1809-1910.

My grandmother, Marianne Tomarro was born 28th July 1866 in Palermo. All I know about is taken from her death certificate. I have to assume that the information is correct. Her father was Michael Tomarro and her mother Josephine Ammatuzio. I am having difficulties with this surname. Wish I could be more help.

You can request her birth certificate or a copy from the original birth act to:

Comune
Ufficio di Stato Civile
Piazza Giulio Cesare 52
90127 Palermo - Italy

I hope it helps, bye ricbru

Hi, if the marriage was arranged in Italy, is very possible that Marianna coming from same area of Donato and not from Palermo.. the surnames spelling could be( TOMARO also exact) and TAMARO/TAMMARO and AMATUZIO... just an suggestion.. regards, suanj
