Arnone from Celico

Post by arnone01 »

I am looking for info related to my grandfather Salvatore Arnone (born May 25, 1891) who immigrated to the US (Frostburg, MD) around 1909 based on the 1910 census. His father was Vittorio and mother Carmela (Greco) Arnone who lived in Celico. He left at least one other sibling behind. I cannot find any info on when exactly or on what ship he came to the US. I have done extensive research on Ellis Island website and have asked family members to no avail.
I am unable to trace family back past Vittorio and Carmela as well.
Does anyone have any info on my family or other options I should pursue?
THANKS!

Thank you so much, that is amazing at how quickly you were able to find this. Although some of the info is somewhat questionable (Chicago, IL) I do believe that it is him based on a few things. One is that others on the ship were going to Frostburg, and secondly; the age, hometown and father are far to consistent to be a coincidence. Again - THANK YOU and if you have ideas on how to find any of his siblings that remained in Italy I would certainly appreciate that help as well. I plan to travel to Celico next spring to see who I can find.

Hi arnone01, Here is the news i think your looking for: I have an extensive genology for the Arnone family and I am sure that somewhere along the line you and I are cousins. My grandpa, Pasquale Arnone arrived in the US in 1906 from Celico and went to Frostburg, MD as with many other people from Celico. They all went there to work in the coal mines. I have in my listing a Carmela Arnone, 1875. My grandpa had a sister that stayed in celico, maybe your grandparents were an offshoot of her.
My name is Pat Arnone and I live in Monroe, NY. Where do you live? Hope to be in touch with you soon. Pat

Dear Massimo,

My greatgrandmother, Aquila Arnone, she married Raymondo Pace in Celico where they were both born. They had several children, one of whom was my mother's father, Nicola Pace who married and immigrated to the US...Frostburg Md. and then Washington D.C.

We will be travelling to Italy in September to Calabria to visit Celico.

I hope to hear from you soon,

Warm regards,

Michele
