Marriage Information

I have a number of questions concerning the marriage ceremony between unification and 1929, when Mussolini recognized the Catholic Church:

1. Did the local priest complete the "Atto Di Solenne Promessa Di
Marriage" document for the couple? Did the town hall receive a
copy of the document?
2. Were the marriage banns, "notificazioni/pubblicazioni," posted at
the church and the town hall?
3. When were the the marriage documents, "processetti," required
before the wedding, weeks or months. Who took possession
of this document, the priest or the town-hall offical?
4. Many couples married in the church were also married in a civil
marriage ceremony, so that their children were legitimate. Where
are the records of these civil marriage? I have not seen
any of these civil marriage records during my research.
5. After the wedding, who went to the town hall to record the
marriage, the couple or the priest?

I am not a expert of the matter, but, if I understand your question, I must say that in that lapse (1870-1929) civil and religious marriage were two completely separate events, with different processes behind. In fact, it often happened, above all in central Italy, that people who were "faithful to the Pope" did not marry in a civil ceremony, and their children were declared as born from father and a woman who "does not want to be mentioned" (I think that was because it was not contemplated the birth of children from an unmarried couple).
So, the answer to questions #2 to 4 should be "processes were separate"; to #1 "that happened before 1870"; and to #5 "nobody did".
Maybe some friend of the Forum can correct me, or give more precise info.
