Are you looking for an Italian surname? Do you need more information about your family heritage?
This is the right place to start your genealogy search.
I've been researching my family and have received some documents from the Commune in Bari, however it appears I've gotten as far as I can and need some suggestions as to other steps I can take to take my search further.
I know the names of my second great grand-father & grand-mother, however I do not have their birth years and the communte requires that to get documents on them. Their names are Nicola Colonna & Grazia Gaetana Scarpelli. I know they were born & most likely married before 1885 as my great-grandfather was born 1885.
I was able to take one side of the family a bit further but got stuck again. I know my 3rd great-grandfather was Francesco Valenzano (born 1819 in Rutigliano) whose father was Vito Giuseppe Valenzano. Unfortunately I don't have an age for Vito Giuseppe and can't take the line back any further.
Any help/suggestions on how I can go about getting more information/records would be greatly appreciated.
