Dated March 10, 1879 in Frigento. Appearing was Luigi Ciriello, age 34, peasant/farmer in Frigento. He reported that on the 9th of the current month at 10:15 P.M., his wife Maria Giuseppa Cipriano, a peasant/farmer who was living with him, gave birth to a male infant. It was this infant whom he was presenting and to whom was being given the name Nicola. Witnesses were Vito Capobianco, age 33, property owner, and Carmine Pelosi, age 30, same occupation.

Re: Ciriello, Nicola
Erudita, can you check the date of birth again. I just put it on my tree and his death shows that he died on 14 July 1877 at the age of 5???? So one of the years must be an error. Thanks!

The date I gave you from this record is correct, so possibly the death date you have is for an earlier son born with the same name.

Could I give you the death record and maybe you can check the date on that one?

You have the correct date for the death record (July 14, 1877), but this death record has to be for another Nicola Ciriello born earlier to the same couple. It was a common practice to name a later child with the same name as an earlier one who had died, particularly if the name was important in the family-such as the name of grandparent or other close relative.

Thanks, Erudita. I'll have to really work on this one as I thought I had it correct. But that is for another day.........
I have run across many duplicate names, they are a bit overwhelming sometimes..........
