Menichelli family

Post by phines »

My maternal great-grandfather, Francisco Menichelli, was born in 1865 in Italy and was married in Italy to Mary Beatrice, who was born in 1863. Their first son, Nicola or Nicholas, was born in 1887 in Italy. I know they arrived in America before the turn of the century because they are listed on the 1900 U.S. census. In that census, the year given for Francisco's arrival is 1887 and it's 1889 for his wife and son. But I cannot locate the passenger manifests for their arrivals in New York. I found a possible one for my great-grandfather, but it's not very useful and difficult to read. I do not know my great-grandmother's maiden name.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I know no if helpful, but most probably your ancestors coming from Macchia Valfortore( Campobasso province, Molise region, IT)... it is just a my suggestions...
I believe that maybe the full name of Nicholas was Giambattista Nicola Menichelli;
I found a Giovambattista Nicola Menichelli born on 21 Feb 1887 in Macchia Valfortore, son of Francesco Menichelli, 21 old, shoemaker and son of Angelica Beata Maria Berardinelli; birth act:
http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... ewsIndex=0
Angelica came in USA on 6 Sep 1889 with little Giovanni ( Giambattista= Giovanni + Battista)
New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 about Angelica Berardinelli
Name: Angelica Berardinelli
Arrival Date: 6 Sep 1889
Birth Date: abt 1863
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Italian
Place of Origin: Italy
Port of Departure: Bari, Fiume, Naples, Palermo, and Trieste, Italy
Destination: United States of America
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Utopia

I believe that they are your ancestors...
just a my suggestion .... obviously...

and if my suggestion is right
the marriage of Francesco and Angelica Beata Maria:
Macchia Valfortore 17 Apr 1886#10
GROOM-Francesco Saverio Menichelli 21 old, shoemaker, born and resident in Macchia Valfortore son of Giambattista Menicheli and Maria Giovanna Muccigrosso

BRIDE-Angelica Maria Berardinelli 25 old, housewife, born and resident in Macchia Valfortore, daughter of Vincenzo Berardinelli and Filomena Cantaudo

the marriage record of Nicholas Menichelli show the Nicholas mother name :
M. Giavanna Mocrigro
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F6W3-HR9
that is wrong name: in the spelling and also wrong because Maria Giovanna Muccigrosso was the his grandmother and no mother...
So if my suggestion is right the italian names was:
Francesco Saverio Menichelli + Angelica Beata Maria Berardinelli
son: Giambattista Nicola Menichelli

Francesco Saverio Menichelli was born in Macchia Valfortore on 28 Aug 1865 # 43 son of Giambattista Menichelli and Maria Giovanna Muccigrosso; birth act:
http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... ewsIndex=0

Beata Angelica Maria Berardinelli ( the first names on the birth act are so) was born in Macchia Valfortore on 13 Jan 1861#3 daughter of Vincenzo Berardinelli and Filomena Cantaudo; birth act:

Yes, this is them! My great-grandfather was a shoemaker, an occupation he continued once he got to America. He owned his own shop here. I cannot thank you enough. You folks are amazing!
