determining year of death

Post by dmt1955 »

this is a section from an April 1871 marriage bann

i am trying to determine the date of death of Bernadino's first wife, Giuseppa Casafo ....
i read a date "cinque del mesi di Gennaio ultimo"

is the date of death Jan 5?
does 'ultimo' refer to january of 1871 or of the previous year 1870?

thanks for your efforts

The date is Jan 5th and I believe "del mese di Gennaio ultimo" is referring to Jan of 1871. There should be an extract of the death record with the allegati, as stated in this record, if you have access to that.
