Gaglio name change from Fontaine or Fontana

My mom told me today that the Gaglio side changed their name along the way from Fontaine/Fontana to Gaglio. They were also originally from Florence, but I haven't got that in the search. Anyone know how to figure this out? Maybe see if or when their name was changed?

Obviously Giuseppe Gaglio was born with that surname. You can check whether his father changed his name, or was from Firenze, by searching for Giacomo Gaglio and Maria Licari's marriage record. Unfortunately Giacomo's birth was around 1841, which is too far back to be online. To search before 1862 you'll need to order microfilm from a family history center.
