You've deciphered the occupation correctly, but the word is actually an adjective, and not a noun, and I can't find any info about it as an occupation. I'll keep searching though.

This one is definitely puzzling, Donna. The only thing that comes to mind is that he dealt in replicas of something. I think you had something concerning ceramics from this town at some point, or was that in another town you were researching? I really can't find anything on this occupation at all.

This is a real stretch:
lancio dell'esca artificiale = launch lure (fly casting) maybe a fisherman ?!
Did they live near water?

altvilla irpina is near a river - Fiume Sabato. (i have not seen any occupations on any of the records i reveiwed that were related to fishing), but not close to the sea.....abt 48 km to Salerno.
the entry in florio's book is interesting...being something related to arte / trades.
erudita,
you might be thinking about ancestors in Ariano Irpino - some were faenzari potters. this group is made up more of miners, tin smiths, stone/marble cutters, and farmers. it's an interesting idea about dealing in replicas, though, which might relate to joann's link to florio's book
thanks to each of your efforts and ideas on this.
