Angelina Nardin(i) Paganini Barra

Post by vsimpson1066 »

My great grandmother came from Asiago Italy aboard the Duca D'Aosta April 1915, with her daughter, whom we all knew as Rena, but was listed on the record as Anizara Paganini. She was quite possibly widowed in Italy, but we do not know. Her mother was Mary Nardin(i) 1857-1934 (asiago - Staunton, IL) In Staunton Angelina met and married my grandfather Guiseppe "Joe" Barra, who was originally from Brossasco Italy (1878-1925, parents Guiseppe Barra and Marguarita Guisano).
I am desperately looking for Angelina's family. Her father, most importantly, and even further back if possible. I am also interested in the Barra family in Brosassco, and can provide more information on them as well if anyone gets a hit.

Happy to help!
My mother's family came from the valley of western Piedmont. Beautiful places, but life was very hard for the farmers; harsh climate, poor soils. Many emigrated, but usually to nearby France or to the towns in the plains. Going to America was pretty unusual.
The records for this area are online at familysearch
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... %3D2068332
If you browse the birth registers (Nati) at the beginning of the century you'll probably found that Giuseppe and Margherita had other children.
They were still alive and residing in Brossasco in 1919, when their son Giacomo married..

Unluckily the death registers online are not complete, so if you want their death certificates you should write to the Comune of Brossasco

They had eight children, all boys but three. All the children emigrated to Macoupin county Illinois except the two eldest daughters, who stayed in Asiago. I really want the nardini/paganini records, but I dont know hardly anything about them, so it is very hard. I appreciate everything everyone has sound thus far, and Ill continue to search on my own too. Thank you for the tips, and the records!

MY UNCLE JUST GAVE ME ANGELINA'S FIRST HUSBANDS NAME! Valentino Paganini, father of Rena Paganini, first husband of Angelina Nardin. He died in 1912, the same year Rena was born (she was born in Feb) so Angelina took Rena to America, and met and married her new husband in 1915 (through her brother Pietro.) Can anyone find anything on Valentino?????

Hi,

I have just found your post from July 2014 in regard to the Barra family in Brossasco. My Grandmother's maiden name was Barra and her family originated from Brossasco.

I have just started my research into the Barra family and I would really appreciate any information you might like to share.

Thanking you!

Yvette
