Messina in Porto Empedocle, Sicily

I need some help finding more information about my maternal line.

My mom's maiden name is MESSINA.

Her father is Alfonse Messina, born in NEW YORK about 1920.
His siblings are: Maria (1910), Gerlando (1914), and Giuseppe (1916) all born in Porto Empedocle, Sicily (except Gerlando who is also born in NY).

Alfonse's father is Carlo Messina, born in Sicily, Feb 13, 1889, near Porto Empedocle? Died in NY in 1974. He married Francesca Marchica in Porto Empedocle before immigrating to NY, she came later on.

His father is ?
His mother is ?

Carlo's ship records when immigrating to the US in 1911 mentions a cousin, Salvatore Mellurzo, 71 Mulberry St, NY.

Possible grandmother/grandfather is Carlo Messina (abt 1830) and Assunta Cuntrera (abt 1833), married 13 June 1852 in Porto Empedocle. Groom's father name is Mario Messina and his mother Rosa Gerrasi. Bride's father is Giuseppe Cuntrera and mother is Pietra Trupia Gallina. Groom's birthplace shows Trapani. Bride's birthplace, shows Borgata.

Rosa (13 Aug 1858)

Have you searched the library catalog on familysearch.org to see if there are microfilmed records for your town available? I have been having trouble the last few days accessing the catalog (seems to be a problem with their website). If there are microfilmed records, I would rent the films to find the actual records. Then you would be able to verify that the info that you found is accurate, and you would also get the additional information for which you are searching
