Certificates and Census in Italy

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

I never quite new what is the entire list documents and certificates needed to certify identity, citizenship and municipal local fiscal and statistical attestations needed to compile national statistics. Today I chanced upon the answer to this unanswered question and found same at

This is great current information but does not usually apply to the type and age of documents required by members on this board.
