Hi There,

Sorry your post was missed. However, there is good news. There is microfilm for the town of Lercara Friddi.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... =1&last=50

You can go to your nearest Family History Center and order the microfilm for about $3.50 a roll.

You will be able to view Birth, Marriage, and Death Acts of your ancestors. Just remember the records are in Italian.

I hope this helps.

this travel was not the first travel, because the Giovanni age 4 and Domenica age 1, children of Giuseppe and Maria, well on ship's manifest are that was US born...
so Giuseppe and Maria was in USA in 1903 ... could be interesting to see the 1903 record....

According to this manifest, Maria was in the USA for 8 years, and Giuseppe was there for 9...

So there may be a ship record of Giuseppei in 1901 and a ship record for Maria in 1902...

Most of this info appears to be correct realtive to my grandparents with one exception. I do not believe my grandmother, Maria (Mary) ever visited or lived in US before 1910. As for their children Domenica ("Marge") was not born in the US (manafest stated my grandparents and Aunt Marge where Italian citizens. ) The odd (strange) issue is relative to my "Uncle John" (Giovanni) The ship's manafest states his citizenship to be US. His name at the time was Giovanni Placa Vento. I have little to no info relative to my grandmother's family. I know she had many brothers & sisters. There is a listing of a Placa that died shortly before my grandparents immigrated and a record of my granfather visting the US about a year before, possibly to pick up my "uncle John". In the good old days, brothers or sisters took their dead siblings children and raised them as their own. He was the only "child" of my grandparents children (of 11, possibly 12) that carried my grandmother's maiden name., Placa.

On the ship's manifest are wrote Giovanni and Domenica children as US born... so also on the census...and this are documents, the ideas are differents from documents, so for many searches always same problem and same exception.... when the memories, in the time, they change the truth....the documents are an sure prof...

Hi...

The ships record is dated Apr 19, 1910, and the census record is dated... April 20 1910....

The census record that was posted earlier... is it correct?

What's confusing me is the the name Domenica on the boat record... who then becomes a Margaret the next day on the census record and is now a 2 year old...

According to the census record, they applied for their first papers... if that is a "PA" I am reading...

(Na=Naturalized, Pa=First Papers, Al=Alien)

Looking at the manifest... the address does say "Court Street" just as the census record does... so the census record it correct.

Are you saying that Domenica (Marg) was born in Italy?

By looking at these 2 documents, I would think that your Grandmother was in the USA before 1910...
