All records in Italy are in the town. You have to identify what town your ancestor is from in order to trace them in Italy. You didn't give us much information to work with. His first name and where he lived in England. Try to find him in the 1901 cenus. Perhaps you will find his place of birth if you do. http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Or try the phone book for locations of people with the surname today.
http://www.paginebianche.it/index.html

Try and be more specific with what you are looking for and where you have searched alread.

Thanks for your comments ,
we have found the correct spelling is Bucarossi and according to the 1901 census we have found my grandfathers brother, Raphael listed .
thanks for your help.
we`ve struggled quite a bit because of the spelling and because at some point the name was anglicised to Buckross between 1901 and 1904.

we have just found that my father believes the family came to england in 1891 from a place called PRECENICCO.
Anthony was the father , children were Giovanni, Rosa and Theresa ( twins) and possibly Domonic and Raphael

I don't think the name is correct.... :?

I've searched for Bucarossi at the Ellis Island site and not one name with that spelling came up...( I know they didn't go through Ellis Island...)

I've searched the Ancestry .com site... and nothing... not one person...

I've also searched for passengers from Precenicco (Udine) and again ... not one passenger with any other name shows up...

Did Anthony have any siblings? This info would help.... or submit the name of his wife... her surname could be researched... who knows, maybe they came from the same town...

http://www.gens.labo.net/it/cognomi/genera.html

the surname is not found at the above site for all of Italy.
nor was I able to find it at the following site......

http://www.paginebianche.it/pb/cerca?bt ... s=&cc=&cf=&

I think suanj is right and the name is spelled incorrectly.

Just as you will find ship manifest misspellings, census records to may contain misspellings. Every name in my nonno's household had their name
misspelled in the 1920 census......something to think about.

Think you should investigate Suanj's spelling of the name and the town.

Check out this for Birth, Death, Marriages in England for no charge
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/

Found this the some of the records for Nottinghamshire:
Baccarosse, Lucia, December Quarter, 1903, marriage in Nottinghamshire.
Boccarossa, Rosa, March Quarter, 1896, marriage in Nottinghamshire
Boccarossa, Tearesa, December Quarter, 1898, marriage in Nottinghamshire

There is also an "Anneils" Buccarossa listed in 1891 in West Brighton, in Sussex. The first name very hard to read...too much shadow...so I doubt that the first name is correct...but incase you had a realative in that area, thought I should list.

Good luck in your search.
