DiNatale Family

Post by bellas_smile »

Hi my name is Alisa and I am searching for the DiNatale family that originated from Napoli, Italy. My Grandfather Jospeh Tony DiNatale, his brother Nick DiNatale and their parents John and Anna DiNatale came here in the 1920's.

How do I go about finding their family that may still live in Italy ?

Thank you !

Dear Alisa,
you may write to them all, but I don't think they understand english, and maybe they don't care to write you back.
You should write to Ufficio di Stato civile in Napoli and request the "certificato storico di famiglia" (Family history certificate) of your great grandparents.
Did they leave any children to Napoli?
I hope it helps, bye ricbru

Are you sure that is the manifest of your ancestors? Was your great grandfather Giacomo?
If it matches, they are not from Napoli but from Castelfrentano, a town in the province of Chieti

Hi Ricbru

I called my parents, is Castelfrentano a small town near Napoli ? My father confimed that they did come from a small town outside of Napoli. I also viewed the ship records. Yes, my Great Grandfather's name was Giacomo (John). Nicoli is my Grandfathers brother and Anna is his mother and her maiden name was Di Bene. It also states the Anna on the ship record being Di Bene.

Thanks for all your help, I wouldn't be able to find all this without your kindness. Can I send a picture of me or post it here ?

Dear Alisa,
Castelfrentano is in the province of Chieti and it is about 250 km far away from Naples

Hi Riccardo,

I have a letter composed in Italian. How shall I go about mailing it to possible family memebers in Italy ? CastelFrentano is possibly where they came from, they left on a ship to America from Napoli. My Grandfather spoke a lot of Napoli. Shall I mail to DiNatale's in CastelFrentano and Napoli ?

Thank you for your help.

alisa first the name of the town..Castel Frentano

i think writing to possibe family members is a great idea. may i offer a few suggestion. i would send a letter written in italian and english..plus your phone number.
enclose a return envelope with your address. include a dollar or two to cover the cost of the mailing. i did all of the above and received a phone call and letter in seven days from an uncle/cousin.
when addressing the envelope make sure the last line reads ITALY.
i had several CHRISTMAS cards returned to me. the reason...they did not know the names of the towns were italian.

good luck, juan------------

Do you have any information on Teresa Dinatale who married Gaetano Trapani? All I know is that they lived in Termini Imerese,Sicilia,Italy and had at least 1 son named Franceso Trapani who married Michela Scaletta.
