RE: Searching the surname Vignale

Hi Everyone. My name is Toni and Im from Queensland Australia. I, along with my husband'Stephen are currently trying to search out my husbands father, Luigi Vignale and his siblings and parents etc.
We know they came from Montaldo, Scarampi and that Luigi was born 21 April 1903 and immigrated to Australia in 1924. Luigi's parents names were Giovanni Vignale and Domonica Maria Gatti. This is the only information I have.
I do however have what I believe are the actual birth certificates for several other members of Luigi's family but I don't know where in the family they fall. I also have Luigi's actual discharge papers from the 7th Reggimento Bersaglieri in 1923. There also family photos from Italy without names on them.
I would love to put faces and names together and start piecing the family together. Could anyone please help me? I feel as though it should be easy because I have all of these documents and photos but I'm really struggling. Thanks again for listening

Oh wow! My goodness you all have no idea how much finding these names means to me.....or hold on, you probably do! I am totally overwhelmed! I have Family Search but find it so heard to navigate through the site. Can I ask how you have been able to do the searches so easily? I will send off a letter next week to the remaining Vignale in Montaldo and fingers crossed they will end up being an Aunt or cousin. As yet the certificates I have aren't linked to the names found so I know I have a lot more digging to do. Many, many thanks to you xxx

Glad to help in your family research
In searching Italian civil records you have birth(nati) death(morte) marriage (matrimoni) by year most go from 1866-1910 some towns have other years. Indexes are found at the beginning or end of the year you are searching by index number and surname.There are also multi year indexes which combine 5 or 10 years of indexes
Babies are born then presented to the civil official of the town usually within a few days of birth for entry in the birth registry. If there is a problem and they cant register the birth act until much later they are entered in the Parte 2 for that year usually in the rear of the records and that record is usually handwritten. Sometimes there are sidenotes with marriage or death information or if the act has a mistake in it a correction to those mistakes
Death records have age parents if they were married and to whom and usually town of birth
Civil records are signed by the civil official and 2 witnesses not usually family members
The indexes for the churches in Italy of baptism and marriage and death are arranged by first name first (later years last name first) by year and date of the act and page and record number. Just find your person in the index and go back to the records to find the act you

Marty,
I can't find how to specifically search an index. Is it because you have access to the indexes as I know that not everyone does. I have envelopes from Italy with the sender being Maria Vignale. The family has always been of the impression that Luigi had a sister by the name of Maria and there seems to be quite a gap between children where Anna is born in 1896 and then Luigi was born in 1902 or is this normal?
If you could tell me how I gain access to the indexes on family search that would be awesome!

Marty can you please tell me if I need to pay to access these records. I have logged into new family search as an LDS member but cannot find any of this information. It's driving me nuts! It's like having someone show you the answers and you have to figure out how they got it! Lol!!
