All,
I have been working toward Italian citizenship through my Italian grandfather. Anthony/Antonio Carracino. I have searched many years of the scanned birth records from Celso, Pollica Italy and have found his parents marriage certificates as well as all siblings and one young siblings death. I have the ship manifest with him on it (Buenos Aires Sept 11,1903), the first census where he lived with his parents, and the next one where he lived with his new wife and family (my father was 8yo). I found his marriage and death certificates here in the US. He never naturalized and I have that certification as well. He did have a SS#. I have not yet embarked upon a church search in Celso Italy. He was definitely born in Celso, Pollica commune in 1893 or 1894. I don't think a pregnant woman traveled in 1890's when she was pregnant. Were adoptions common? How about name changes? I found two Eugenios, yet only one traveled to the US and I could not find a death certificate for one Eugenio. Perhaps my grandfather was given to our family to bring him to the US and his family ever came for him? Were records kept centrally outside of the commune? Is there precedent for a baptismal record Does anyone have an idea? Thanks, Bill.
Can you post the link to the arrival manifest in 1903?
And... what is the mother's name?
EDIT TO ADD***
I located the ship manifest that you referenced. Buenos Aires arriving September 1903
On this manifest I found: Filomena Palladino, 28, and her 5 children: Eugenio (10), Antonio (9), Eugenia (5), Antonia (3), Giuseppe (1)
They are going to husband/father - Gennaro Carracino.
In your inquiry you seem to be searching for a birth record - but are you looking for Antonio's or Eugenio's???
FYI - the birth of the first Eugenio above was 30 October 1892
Like you, I have located the births of the other siblings...
And the death of Olinda Carracino (12 days old) in 1898)...
Have been checking Parte II records for possible "recognition" but there is no sign of Antonio Carracino in Pollica

Thank you for the responses and ideas. Sorry for the delay. Pupation (my dad) forgot his password. This is my account and I posted the original plea. I have no additional information. Any one else? Can respond to my AOL email directly if desired, wkolacino@aol.com. Thanks
I have a copy of death certificate for Eugene Carracino from Florida which gives his date of birth as 11/25/1892. He died 04/24/1964 and his spouse at the time was Anna Carracino. Unfortunately it shows unobtainable under his parents names but I believe this may be the son of Antonio and Filomena. If it’s what you need let me know and I can scan it.
All thank you for your information. TESSA, I think you are onto something. My summation is that the first Eugenio was renamed to Antonio, why...I don't know. what is PART II you referred to?

Parte II are the supplementary records in that year's book...
Sometimes births occur out of the comune, they would be recorded in parte II.
If a correction needs to be made to a record, it would be recorded in parte II.
AND... if a parent or couple whose child was born without naming one or both parents, and the parents now wish to "recognize" the child as their own, it would be recorded in parte II. Sometimes these recognitions are done YEARS later...
During the mass emigration from Italy during the century between 1876 to 1976, the U.S. was the largest single recipient of Italian immigrants in the world. However, their impact was not as great as countries like Argentina and Brazil. That was due to the fact that hundreds of thousands of immigrant...
