Have gone through the available films for my husband's Italian family & have them back to the early & mid 1700's. What is my next step in researching? Can I get "Stato di Famiglia Storia" for couples who married in the early/mid 1700's without exact marriage date? And is this the next step?
All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Civil record office starts in Italy officially on 1870, but you can't find anything earlier than 1809.
Before 1809 you can find church records all written in Latin,

About 3 years ago, I wrote to the parish church in San Vitaliano, Napoli & in Armento, Potenza, but never received a reply from either one. Any suggestions?

From my 3 years of experience I can tell you that catholic priest are a littlebit jelous of their church records.
So I suggest you to send another request, put an envelope for the answer back, an international reply coupon, that you can buy to any U.S. Post office, and about $5-10 for charity.
