I have a declaration of intent for my husband's great-grandfather. Information on it claims:
Name: Peter F. Perott (F is either Francis or Frederick)
DOB: 1/15/1887
Place of birth: Spezzano, Albanese, Italy
Date of immigration: June 13, 1893
Place of embarkation: Naples
Port of arrival: NY, NY
I found the Massilia which matches the date and departure city, but didn't find any likely candidates for a match. I don't know anything about his parents. It seems like his last name may have been americanized enough that I don't recognize it. Any clues where to look next for his parents?
Thanks,
Carole

Do you know if he had any brothers or sisters...sometimes locating info on a sibling can lead to the discovery of parents names. Have you pulled any other records on Peter?

Re: Surname: PEROTT(?) from Spezzano
Thank you all for your wonderful, and very fast, help. The destination on the ship manifest and traveling with an uncle seem to match family history, so until given reason to believe otherwise, we're going with Pietro Barrota (Parrotta) became Peter Perott.
Thanks again,
Carole
