Hi,

Date of the act: 1868 may 9th, 10.08 a.m.
Comune: Castellamare
Major and registrar: Vito Carolino Mattarella

Failla Rosario, age 30, farmer, living in the same Comune, declare that:

on may 6th, at 11.10 a.m., in his house, from his union with Parisi Vita was born a child, masculine, called Antonio

Witnesses: Mangella Vito, age 61, farmer; Colombo Giovanbattista, age 60, farmer

I hope this will help
Regards
Tommaso

Thank you so much Tommaso. That helps a lot. I couldn't tell what Antonio's mother's last name was or how old his father was. Thank you again.

Hello Tommaso,
I found this website that looks pretty interesting but it is in Italian so I can't figure it out. http://www.archivi-sias.it/index.asp
It seems to have Italian Archives online but I don't know if you can get the actual documents or the indexes online. Let me know what you think.
http://www.archivi-sias.it/Consulta_Arc ... lessi90566
This website lists all the comunes and then has folders for the birth, marriage and death but I can't seem to find actual documents.

Thank you, Melissa

Melissa,

Try highlighting website, go to edit, copy & go to this link
http://babelfish.altavista.com/

Go back to edit & paste into space "Translate web page" select the lanuage group & then Translate.

Not great, but does help sometimes.

Hope it helps.

The SIAS is a sort of guide to the italian archives, but it doesn't provides images or transcriptions of the documents. It helps in knowing what a single italian archive has, and it gives all the bibliographical informations you need to access the documents.
In order to see the document itself, you must enter the REAL archive...

Thank you both so much suanj & Tommaso. I don't know how you were able to read it since it was so light. When I started searching for my family I din't know where they were from or when they were born now I have so much information. It is really exciting.

Thanks for the information on the SIAS. I guess I was wishfully thinking. That will be exciting once they get all the information online.

Thanks again,

Melissa =-)
