Translate please

Post by DonnaH »

Hi all,
I was at a dead end on my research so I put it away for awhile. Was home sick today and decided to organize my research. I came across this letter that I was trying to write. I have no idea what I was writing about. Can someone please translate it for me so I can figure out what I was up to?
I read all the posts I have missed. Alot has been happening. Congrats on finding Gertrude, AMAZING!
Any help with this letter would be appreciated

Donna

Reverendo Padre,

Hi DonnaH,

I can't translate the letter word for word but you were writing the Reverend Father requesting the baptism act (around 1854-1855) of your great grandfather Carmine and any documention including the marriage act that would give you Carmine's parents names.

I'm sure someone will be able to give you a better translation.

I think this is what you want.....

Reverend father,
My name is Donna Barletta Howard. I am researching my family history. I believe that my great grandfather, Carmine (Carman) Barletta was baptised in your parish around 1854-1855.
I would be most grateful if you could search for the record/act of his baptism and the marriage act/certificate of his parents, and if you find them I would ask you if you could send me copies of these acts showing the names of the parents as they are registered in each entry.

If you do not find this name, but have any knowledge of where, in your vicinity the Barletta name is found between 1854 – 1855.
I would be most grateful if you could advise me of this.

Thanks Nuccia,
I've had a friend from th UK visiting for the last two weeks plus a large 'family' gathering for an anniversary, so I have not had a lot of time for the PC, E-Mails or Forums. I have to enjoy these visitors when I can...the next lot are due in two weeks time.

But if I notice someone needs I to E translation and no one else has done it, I'm always willing to step in....
