You can further your research by sending to the town of origin for further documents or by checking the Lds for microfilmed records of birth, marriage and death.

Hello again! Thank you all so much. I can't believe I got a response so quickly! The 1930's Census is accurate for my grandparents, and Tony is my father. They moved to Corry, Pa. in 1924. My grandfather died in 1932, he was murdered. My grandmother never remarried. She died in 1992, at the age of 99. Thanks again.

the request has to be written in italian + attach photocopy of your ID + envelope + international reply coupon (to be sure to receive the answer)

or you can rent Furnari civil record microfilm to FHL (mormon church)

or contact Archivio di Stato di Messina (where you can also find military records and draft cards)

I found this posting while searching around the internet for information on Alfio Giovanni Messina. I don't know if you check this site anymore but figured I would leave a message, just in case.

Guess what? You are related to my husband, Michael Peters! His grandfather is your grandfather's brother, Frank! I was doing research on Alfio (Alfred) Messina's murder. Found some interesting newspaper articles from the time.

Would love to chat with you and share what we know about the family tree.
My email is netwench30@hotmail.com, if you want to chat.

I just wrote a long response, and it does not show as having posted, so I have to make this quicker.

I was just in Fùrnari. I believe Crisafulli is the most common surname there.

My grandfather's mother's second husband had the last name Crisafulli, but I don't think they're connected to yours, necessarily. Some of them lived in upstate NY.

Yesterday I found a site - that I thought I bookmarked, but apparently not -where you can type in surnames in Fùrnari. Crisafulli was the most common in that, and when I visited, some men in the town who were in the plaza had a more animated reaction to the name Crisafulli than to the other four names, because it is a common name there.

Good luck in your search. If you happen to find out anything about a couple named Bartolo Cicero and Maria Oliva Cicero who, in 1910/1913 left behind a 7 or 8 -yr-old daughter, born Grazia Cicero in 1905, possibly with an uncle named Francesco Irasci, that's who I'm looking for.

Correction, Grazia was born in 1907, so would have been five, close to six, when left in Furnari in 1913.
