Yeah it was easy!!!! I didn't realise you are in Toronto, :o I could also do some research there - eventually!!!! My late uncle was an RAF pilot and trained in Canada and when I visited his grave in France one of his crew members was Canadian also. I tried several years ago to find the family to send photos of the grave but without success. :(

Hi Folks

Nuccia - you have ancestry - there is a listing for Paulucci under 'Family & Local Histories' then 'United Kingdom County Families'. I would be very curious to see what that says if you don't mind looking it up

PS - I'm expecting a good result on Saturday - it is my birthday too.

Hope it helps our friend here...let us know.

By the way, has anyone heard from Joyce...? Do you think she became a Nonna this week?

Hmm - this listing contains an 'Albertine' who was the daughter of a Lt Gen Marquis Paulucci. Marquis and pauper don't sit happily together - so it must be the wrong family. This Paulucci was a late governor of Genoa however, which maybe helps narrow down the area a bit. All of the Pauluccis I have come across so far are from the north - Genoa, Venice and Florence

I am so grateful to you for doing all this research on my behalf! :) However, I have just tried to download this image and it came up with "no data". I don't suppose there is a connection, but you never know - my grandma used to tell us that at one time the Paulucci family had been very wealthy. Of course there is the old saying that the first generation makes the money, the second spends it and the third are poor and have to start all over again!

I loved the quote about grandchildren - I am longing to become a grandma but my sons are too busy travelling the world at the moment! :!:

Suanj - that list is great. The first one is especally interesting. Inejenn - when your grandmother talked of this family how did she pronounce the name? The first name on Suanj's list when it was written had a 'ki' sounding end. If that is how the name was said, then the spelling would, in Italian, end in a -chi. There is a name Paolicchi which is very strongly associated with Tuscany - and hence Florence - where you initlally thought the family might be from. Its a long shot. How did your ancestor sign his name on his marrage certificate. He was obviously an educated man if he was able to read and write. I would be curious to see how he spelled it!

  I'm presuming that you will not be watching the England match this afternoon!

hi inejenn,

If you PM me with your email I'll send it there...you may be able to view it then. Is anyone else having any trouble with it? I can open it no problem. :?

Suanj, did you want any of those records linked or should we wait until inejenn gives us more info?

Hi Marisa,

Just got in...who will England be playing? I have to finish some work and then I'm off to watch the game, too.
