Pignataro/Guarino/Dattale/Ambrosena and Pace/Molinari/Cicci

Post by shazam989 »

I am seeking information about my family history. Anyone have any information about the

Pignataro/Santamaria Pignataro/Dattale Dattale/Ambrosena Santamaria/Guarino or Santamaria/Panebianco families From the Potenza and Albano di Lucania, areas of Basilicata?

as well as

Pace/Molinari and Cicci families from Bari

I have some information that I would be willing to share and pass along to other distant family members.

Hi There,

Could you be a bit more specific in what you are looking for? We find that if you include first names, birth years, places they settled, etc then people are more willing to help and its much easier to narrow down info.

Can you also tell us what info you already have so we don't duplicate info?

Sorry about not being specific. But here is the information I have already.

My great grandfather Ernesto Pignataro immigrated to US in about 1914 or so from Muro Lucano or Bella, Potenza province in Basilicata Italy. He married Maria Santa Maria who also immigrated from the same area.

Ernesto was one of about 9 children, Cataldo, Louis, Eleanor, Michael, Mario, Richard, Louis, Ernesto, and Leonard.

Ernesto was the son of Stefano Pignataro and Carmella Maria Dattale

Carmella Dattale was the daughter of Louis Dattale and Catherine Ambrosena. As far as I know Stefano was from Bella a small village near Muro Lucano which is about 15 miles or so northwest of the City of Potenza, Italy.

as far as Ernesto's wife Maria Santa Maria. She is the daughter of Vito Santo Santa Maria and Angela Guarino.

Vito was born in Palo Del Colle, Bari but lived most of his life in Montepeloso, Potenza. His father was Pietro Santamaria and mother Prudenza Zagariello.

Angela Guarino was from Albano Di lucania.

Now Vito Santa Maria was married before Angela to someone and had Pietro and Prudenza Greco. Angela Guarino was also married once before with two children Vittoria and Antonia

Ernesto's son Vito or Victor (my grandfather) Married Antoinette Pace.

Her father and mother my great grandparents are Pietro Pace and Lucia Molinari

Pietro was from Castel Grande, near Bari and Lucia was from Bari area

The Molinari family are decendents of the Cicci Family

If this helps anyone or there is anything anyone can help me with please let me know thank you

No I do not have all US records. This is information that has been passed on from family members. I am searching for ways to validate this information for one thing and also hoping to connect with someone also researching these same lines. I am also lookign for ways and possibly some help in researching records in Italy.

Yes thank you that would be my great grandfather Ernesto. He was married to Maria Santa Maria and they had Carmella which looks to be listed as Carnel and Stephen and Vito (my grandfather).

Most of the information should be found in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, possibly Massachusetts because my great aunt Carmella (my grandfathers older sister) moved to Haverhill Mass and married Louis Zinzi.

To trace the family in Muro Lucano:

Records prior to 1809 & from 1866-present, you'll have to write the comune.

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Muro Lucano

ITALY

Letter should be in Italian & include a self addressed return envelope, copy of your photo ID, and an international reply coupon (obtain from your post office...covers the return postage). Here is a link to some form letters.

I know..the change is a bit strange, isn't it? This is how I save it on mine. I click save and then 3 options appear..1..add this person to a tree..2. save this person to your shoe box and 3. Save to computer..

Not sure if you get the same message but if you need any help let me know...we seem to go through changes together a lot... :D :D

Hi Nucccia,

Good morning.

I don't get three options...only "start a tree with this person," with continue or cancel. I hate the new way that they have everything!
