ship manifests

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

ship manifests

Post by janetbearce »

I was told that my grandparents arrived through Plymouth Massachusetts around 1903. Does anyone know if this is possible and where I could look up the ship name and listing? I am going to Italy next week and would like to look up where they were from and any possible relatives.
My grandfather was Igeno Casoli, his father was Gaetano (John) Casoli and his mother was Ida (Tedeschi) Casoli. He was born in 1897.

Found this record of a

First Name: John
Last Name: Casali
Ethnicity:
Last Place of Residence:
Date of Arrival: Nov 01, 1921
Age at Arrival: 45y Gender: M Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Rochambeau
Port of Departure: Le Havre
Manifest Line Number: 0024

Ship record...

Naturalized in Jan 28 1897 Boston

Address 6 Winter St. Bewerley Mass.

Hopefully a 1900 Census record could be found since he was already in the USA at this time...

A John Casoli does show up in a 1900 Census record, married, living as a boarder, working as a miner...

Does any of this info sound familiar?

The name Gaetano doesn't usually translate to John???

Eugenio... sure he was born in Italy?

Always appreciate your 2 cents...

I originally had Cadelbosco down as the town.. as I had checked it out .. also finding out there are 2.. Sopra and Sotto... (similar to a North or South)... and checked further....

Doing a google search, a town by the name Castelbosco also showed up.. so I edited my earlier post.. and changed it to Castelbosco... and now I can't remember why I changed it... there was something else that showed up while doing an Ellis search... which changed my answer...

And that's when the Ellis site went down... and then went to bed...

Not "possible" but more like "probable"!
