Help translate please

Post by paige18 »

Received letter from Palarmo could someone help , it is very short. Thanks in advance

Demetrio Buccola

OK.... 8O

LISTEN UP.... SINCE NO ONE DOVE IN HERE... I am taking a chance at translating this letter...

Yes I do speak Italian... but only dialect... so... bare with me....

This isn't WORD FOR WORD... but it's pretty damned close...

IF ANYONE COMES IN HERE AND MAKES A HUGE STINK OVER A FU WORDS I SWEAR I WILL LOCK UP THIS POST.... so lets lighten up eh??

I do feel intimidated because after I post this... 200 Italian experts will pop in saying... no... you've got it all wrong...

:P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :

We have had the pleasure of receiving your letter.

I am the son of Antonina Glaviano who was born in Palazzo Adriano on the 16 of November 1917, and who is still alive. :P

this is so cool!!

My mother is the daughter of Nicolo Glaviano (born about 1864 and died 1958) and is the daughter of Maria Troncale.

What I can say is that my Grandfather did have relatives in the USA (for sure - one sister who's name was Carolina... and also had cousins who's baptismal names we cannot remember...)

This unexpected letter is most appreciated and now we are very curious to find out if we are related.

So then... I promise that when I get a chance, I will attend the Palazzo Adranio Town Hall to verify with certainty the relationship..

In all, kindest regards and I hope we turn out to be also relatives!

Marie;

Thank you very much. I appreciate what you did and I think your Italian translation was GREAT ;-) Paige18

Ps. I never did locate Ann Sulla's manifest. I checked every east coast port using her married and maiden names. :-(
