Sanzi

Post by kamurphy »

Hello,
I am looking for help in locating information on my grandfathers family.
I beleive he is from the Taverna ? area. He is the son of Desidero Sanzi and Marie Foresta or Forester. I beleive he was born around 1900 and imigrated to the US in 1922. He may also have served in WW1 and been a prisoner of war. Any information would be appreciated Thanks Karen :)

Any specific information about your grandfather would assist this search ...

- Any spellings of his name
- Where he lived in the US

Hi Karen,

You didn't give your grandfather's name, but there is a Riccardo Sanzi, age 22, who came through Ellis Island on Jan 21, 1921. It says he's from Taverna and going to his father Desiderio in Providence, RI (there's a record of Desiderio coming in 1906 with some other Sanzi family). It also lists his relative as wife Carmela Pullano in Taverna.

Is this the right track?

Mike.

Mike, I was just about to link this manifest but I'm glad you mentioned it first. I should wait for poster to confirm.. :D

If this is the correct person, then the persons I found may have been related...Francesco, my Desidero father, lists Desidero in Taverna as his father and he also resided in Rhode Island.

I can we'll just have to wait and see.

So Karen, are you looking for American or Italian info?

Well then most likely this is the record that Mike found.

There are still people with the Pullano surname living in your town. This is a link to the Italian Phone Listings..

Pullano

Sanzi

Will keep looking..

Hi Karen,

Now that you have the town of origin, you will be able to trace your family through the LDS Church (Mormans) films of the civil records (birth, marriage & death acts) for the town of Taverna. The films cover the years 1811-1910. Here is link to the available films.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... ato+civile++

You order/rent the films at your local LDS-Family History Center. Cost abt 5.50/5.75 per month & can be renewed.

Local your nearest LDS-Famly History Center.

Here is a link to a guide about obtaining these films.

A helpful Italian-English genealogical word list.

Hope this helps & good luck in your research.
